December 2010 — "For my wife's birthday we were trying to find somewhere to dine that was close to home. We ended up trying out the Tona Roma's on Barlow. We sat in the lounge, which was pretty casual. Our server was not the most attentive person, but she did take our drink orders.... I ordered a milkshake... I know that isn't the most common beverage ordered in a lounge, but it took the bartender a few times to make it and probably about 15 min before it arrived. I got the baby back ribs... they were okay, but nothing to write home about. I tried my wife's St Louis style ribs and thought they were okay as well. I try to like Tony Roma's but it really is nothing special and the ribs we make in the slowcooker are much better so it's hard to get excited when dining there. Probably won't be back."

August 2010 — "You know, if I ate red meat, I'd probably love this place. Everyone I go with always digs into the ribs like ravenous beasts and gush about the food. Probably trying to eat food like salads in a rib place doesn't make much sense but I figured I'd write this review to report from a non-meat eater eating in a meat establishment. So keep that in mind.
As everyone else munched their way through pork ribs, I tried the Asian Salad with grilled salmon. The salad is a reasonable size and comes with red peppers, a variety of asian veggies, fried won-ton noodles, sesame seeds and cilantro. Sounds like a nice combination, topped with some kind of spicy dressing. It actually wasn't bad, except for the soggy won-ton noodles (they were supposed to be crunchy - I asked). The vegetables were also kind of chewy instead of crispy, so the feeling I had was it had been sitting around awhile, maybe in a fridge? The server assured me it had just been made so I'm not sure what happened - even he had to admit the veggies looked a little limp. So, maybe Tony Roma's is a place to eat ribs, as they suggest in all of their advertising...I'll try again though - I got a refund and a huge apology which I deeply appreciated.

March 2010 — "I don't eat a lot of ribs, but when I found myself there for a birthday celebration I got a real hankering for meat and so I went for the ribs. The Bountiful Beef Ribs were delicious! I am not all that familiar with ribs and so I was very surprised at the amount of meat! I enjoyed the flavor (I chose 'original' sauce) and the next time I was at the grocery store I bought their sauce for my own home creations. Tony Roma's offer a number of sides, so I chose the garlic mashed potatoes and baked beans - a terrific combination with beef ribs. It went down well. It was a bit of a splurge for me, but because I don't this often it was well worth it. The ambience is quite open and it feels like you aren't far from others in the room. The service was fine and the restaurant seemed clean. Overall I'd recommend Tony's as a great rib place. "

February 2010 — "I have had only lunch at this location and found my experience both times great. First off our waiter Dan, both times was very polite and happy. I ordered ribs the first time which were very good (baby back), with a side order of onion loaf, again great. the second time I tried their cheddar & mushroom burger, and I was very impressed. This burger was from a rib place, but found it up there with any in town, The Cole Slaw is the best in town, very additive, and our drinks brought to us when near empty, (not refills). This is the home of one price for pop and unlimited at no extra charge. The food and service were better than average. I have made this our favorite lunch for business and just plain getting out. It is affordable, and I almost forgot, very quiet, unlike some of the boxy chains, where you can't hear yourself think. Definitely recommended. "

August 2009 — "I hadn't been to Tony Roma's in about 7 years. The last time I was there I was not overly impressed with the food. Just recently my wife's family requested to have Sunday lunch there, so I went along. The atmosphere is a bit dated at the Macleod location, it feels like a bunch of tables in a boring room. The place was nearly empty, but I guess people don't go for ribs on Sundays at noon! Our server greeted us promptly and I ordered a Rickard's Red. The menu is filled with salads, ribs, steaks, sandwiches, burgers and appetizers. I chose to have the Chicken Jack & Bacon Sandwich, which was served on a ciabatta bun. It was pretty good and I devoured the entire thing. My wife chose to have a huge plate of ribs for her lunch. She ordered the St. Louis Rib Sampler with four types of ribs on it - Original, Carolina Honeys, Blue Ridge Smokies and Tony Roma's Red Hots. She did not come close to finishing her ribs, so I took them in my lunch the next day. I had no idea what flavours she had ordered, but my mouth totally burned off with the red hot ones. They were pretty good though, even though my mouth was on fire.
This experience at Tony Roma's was better than the one I had years ago, but it still isn't my favourite restaurant and I don't think I'll be rushing back anytime soon."
