"Terrible food, waitress and management"

June 2011 — "I was at The Hat not too long ago with 7 of my colleagues. We were all looking forward to a delicious lunch but unfortunately between the useless waitress and the undercooked food, we all had a terrible experience. The food: Out of the 8 of us who were there, only 2 people were satisfied with their meals. The burgers were either cold, undercooked or just plain bad tasting. The waitress: She was the epitome of useless. She kept forgetting to bring drinks, and then when she did bring them - she ended up dropping an entire pint glass of pop over myself, 2 colleagues and half of the table... including my Blackberry. Upon close inspection I discovered my Blackberry was soaked throughout in pop and when I asked her what she suggested I do about that - she told me to place my phone in rice. I asked her for her manager and she provided me with his card. And to top it off, even though 3 of us were now wearing a glass of pop on our expensive business clothes, we were not given a discount on our meals, nothing was comped, nothing was done about the fact that she dropped a glass of pop over all of us. I am extremely disappointed in the food, the service and the management of this establishment and will no longer be giving them my business. "

"Hat Resto Pub"

June 2009 — "The Hat Resto Pub, formerly the Silk Hat, is located right in the heart of downtown Edmonton on Jasper Avenue. My friends and I frequent the Hat for happy hour drinks and snacks. They have excellent daily specials, usually involving incredibly cheap draft beer or discounts on burgers. If you can't tap into a special the food and drinks can be a bit pricey. As one of the more affordable item on the menu, we often have the nachos which are more than enough for the table to share. The atmosphere is lively but not loud, and the servers are genuine and friendly. It’s one of those places that's always busy but never completely full—we can always seem to get a table, even when we’re a big group. My only complaint is that they don’t have a patio. If they could work a little magic, it would cement the Hat’s place at the top of my list of summer spots."
