May 2009 — "We went to The Pollard for the Mothers’ Day brunch at 1.45pm, which was one of the latest times we could book. This worked out well for us because it was relatively quiet as most people has already eaten and gone so we felt like we could take it pretty leisurely. As with many brunches it was buffet-style with all kind of treats available. I tried eggs benedict, asparagus wrapped in bacon, some small fish parcels, yogurt and museli, hash browns and herrings on the first round. There were several choices of meat including prime rib, chicken and pork but I felt I would not have room for everything else if I added meat to my plate. The dining room was large and could seat probably around one hundred, many on round tables. It had a strange residential home feel to it, perhaps because of the carpet or the white table clothes, or maybe it was simply that it was mother’s day but it was not the kind of place for a romantic dinner or loud large party, in my view. We finished off with dessert, fresh fruit and cream that was good, and there were several other sweet options on offer but I was already pretty full. I would recommend a buffet if you’re really hungry, let’s face it you can eat as much as you want and go back as often as you like, but I really felt like this was just okay. "
