April 2011 — "St. James Corner is located in the newly developed Victoria Park neighborhood in SW Calgary. It is one amongst many choices in area with places such as the popular Drum and Monkey on the same block. It is an Irish style pub just as the name suggests. There are two floors but the space was more crammed than I had thought it would be. Those who enjoy a cozy pub to catch a game in the winter time probably wont mind however. There are plenty of flat screen televisions on each and every wall so you are sure to be able to catch the game you want to watch. The prices are comparable to any other Irish pub in town. Service can be a bit slow on a busy weekend evening which is expected. We visited with about 5 friends and ordered a platter plate with nachos, wings, and sausage. The portion as quite large and the beer was cold so I'd recommend this pub."

"Typical Pub, not a bad thing"

April 2011 — "Went here recently, as I was in the neighbourhood. It was a casual business lunch. This was an ok spot to go if one was drinking, but it is not what I would call a fantastic business lunch place.
It was busy, so we were offered seats at the bar. Again, if I was drinking, this would've been perfect, but I did have to go back to work.
I had the veggie wrap, which was fine and the yam fries were pretty good. I have a feeling that if I would have ordered traditional pub food, my review would be more positively animated. It looked like a great option, I just didn't take advantage of all the options, and the type of place it was. The menu selection looked great."

July 2010 — "This pub is supposed to be a traditional Irish pub, but I have to say, I've never seen a pub like this in Ireland. It's just too nice -- it's got a polished, grand atmosphere that's more suited to a nice evening with wine than a messy all-nighter with pints of beer. But it still has a casual feel to it and you certainly don't need to dress up to go here, so I guess it's good for both. But the place lacks a real personality -- it seems pretty generic and doesn't have much of its own charm.
I've been here a few times and I've had several things on the menu -- everything's been good. The service is always pretty prompt and efficient and I've had orders messed up before but they've always been quick to fix it.
The prices are more expensive than, say, a dodgy little neighborhood pub but I think they're pretty much on par with the downtown Calgary bar scene. "

January 2010 — "Went by after a hockey game, and this is a great pub. I am from England, and this felt like home - with snugs, great woodwork, and brick.
Never did eat as it was late, but the room is great, and the service was too."

"EXCELLENT FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE"Lynn
November 2009 — "This complete pub type atmosphere is spectacular. It is located three blocks from where the Calgary Flames play hockey. I would highly recommend going here before or after the game or perhaps going here to watch the game.
There are televisions screens for viewing from ALL seats in this place. It accommodates groups from 10-150 people. They have daily specials.
The staff is very friendly and it came across to my guest and I that they enjoy working there. There are 18 different drafts on tap. There are coat racks in a few spots on the walls since most of their seating is tall bar type tables and benches.
This pub is named after St. James Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland which is also home of Guiness beer.
I thoroughly enjoyed the buffalo chicken wrap. It was tasty with a bit of a kick from the sauce. I chose the minestrone soup as my side dish. It was amazing.
