March 2009 — "My husband and I visited this restaurant that recently opened up in Lethbridge. We had been told to make reservations because it is extremely busy and we were glad that we did. Although we dined early, the restaurant filled up quickly and people were having to wait for a table. The restaurant is a bit small and the tables are quite close together, but the food was worth it. We ordered the Special Dinner for two. It started with a soup appetizers that was very tasty. From there, we then had the different dishes along with rice and naan bread. There was so much food for the two of us and it was all so very good. The food had some spice to it and then we could add some additional spice to it if we choose to. The food was not too greasy and each dish had it’s own distinct flavour. The dinner also came with a dessert of our choice and I had the rice pudding. It too was very tasty. The service that night was a little bit slow, but being a new restaurant we could tell that they were trying their best to keep on top of everything. It was worth the wait and I am very glad that an Indian restaurant has opened up in Lethbridge!

March 2009 — "I am so happy that we have an East Indian Restaurant in Lethbridge!
First of all, make sure to make reservations. The restaurant is not very big and as far as I have seen so far it's usually pretty busy.
The service is pretty slow. When we went there the owner was the only person on the floor seating people and taking orders. Occasionally a bus boy came out to fill drinks, etc. Eventually another staff member showed up.
We ordered some fried cheese as an appie and it was delicious. For the main dishes we ordered a lamb dish and a chicken dish that were just the right amount of spice. You have to order rice on the side which is an extra few dollars.
All in all though the food is great and I love East Indian food so I will definatly be back.

January 2009 — "Lethbridge has been crying out for an East Indian for many years and thankfully for everyone, the Taj East Indian has arrived. It is situated in downtown Lethbridge in a building that used to house a bar and was a venue for live music. The location is slightly away from everything but being the only East Indian restaurant in town, I am sure that will not be an issue for them initially. Inside the restaurant, it has been nicely decorated to reflect the East Indian theme and there are quite a few tables for the space. There are a few tables towards the back of the restaurant which are on a raised level, probably was the stage when it was a music venue, and these seem to be the best as you get a good view of the restaurant plus there seems to be a bit more space. The restaurant was packed so make a reservation. The service was on the slow side as the owner was doing everything in the restaurant with no help. It did seem that his spouse was in the kitchen so they could do with a few servers to help them out. The food was excellent though and worth the wait. We started with their platter and then had the butter chicken, lamb rogan josh and vegetarian korma. The platter is worth a try giving you a sample of the dishes available. We also visited the restaurant in the midst of a cold snap and the restaurant was freezing inside so they could look at getting a better front door or turning up the heat. Apart from that and the slow service, the food more than made up for it and I will definitely give them a try again."

Owned and operated by the former manager of Tandoori Hut in Calgary, this is Lethbridge's first Indian restaurant. It is located downtown and offers a small dining room, decorated with Indian flair to complement the authentic menu. From pakoras to butter chicken, tandoori chicken to naan bread, all the favourite dishes are found on the menu -- plus many others. There is a lunchtime buffet. Reservations are recommended.
