November 2011 — "Pho Xuan is quickly becoming the place to go when all you want is a fine bowl of pho with no frills attached.
The interiors to this restaurant is brightly lit with fluorescent lights and booths that have seen better days, however as anyone who comes here for lunch will see, neither of these minor issues have stopped Pho Xuan from attracting a devoted clientele.
I ordered an extra-large bowl of Pho Dac Biet (special noodle soup). Unlike some larger westernized noodle houses, Pho Xuan loads up the special with tendon, flank, meatballs and tripe, all of which is delicious when swimming in the restaurants great soup base.
If the place could improve upon anything it'd be trying to get out appetizers before the pho, which is a habitual issue I have with most pho houses.
Finally, if you are going to try Pho Xuan, keep in mind that it is a cash only establishment."

August 2011 — "We decided to eat here after we came yesterday and it wasn't open past 9 pm. After we quickly chose our own booth, someone came by with a tea pot, tea cups, menus, and the ordering sheet. All Vietnamese restaurants generally come with an ordering sheet where you check off and put the number of each dish or drink you want. The food here is decent priced with small bowls of pho from $6.50 to extra larges around $7.50. I ordered the pho special which comes with beef noodle soup and meats including: tripe, raw beef, flank, meat balls, and more! As well, we had spring rolls and I ordered an avocado milkshake. My pho was delicious which came before the appetizer of spring rolls. However, I found that the pho wasn't piping hot which I normally expect and a determining factor. I usually find that it is, so it was weird to see it not as hot as usual. The soup was warm and had the right saltiness to it. The spring rolls were decent size and came with glass noodles, carrots and meat, it was decent. My avocado shake was delicious! Not too sweet which I love about Pho Xuan's shakes and it wasn't too thick that I couldn't sip it through the straw. "

January 2011 — "Pho Xuan is located in the heart of NE across the street from Marlborough Mall on 36th St. Portions are large and food is delicious, fast, and cheap. Most vietnamese restaurants are known for fast service (food is usually delivered within a few minutes of ordering) and being easy on the wallet. Pho Xuan is no exception as most items on the menu are prepared ahead of time such as beef broth for the pho soup and pre-made vermicelli. Service is friendly and fast as always. The difference between Pho Xuan and other vietnamese restaurants is the size and location. Easily accessible by C-train and located in a diverse neighborhood, this restaurant is always busy with customers. On a weekend morning expect to wait a few minutes for a table. There is a reason for this restaurants popularity as the food is priced well (about $7 for a bowl of hot pho or vermicelli) and it tastes good. The broth is flavorful and there is plenty of seating so the lineups are fast. Also try their ice tea drinks/deserts."

September 2009 — "If you're ever up in the Marlborough area and you need a quick bite, be sure to check out Pho Xuan for some great Vietnamese food that is also faster than most food court places!
There's nothing special about the ambiance but I did appreciate the nice Vietnamese music playing softly in the background, I thought that was a nice touch.
I was in a hurry, so I ordered the salad rolls and a satay pho tai (noodles with sliced rare beef in satay soup). I must have waited two minutes tops, and out came the salad rolls first followed by my pho tai. The salad rolls were delicious, with shrimp and pork inside and the special satay dipping sauce. It tasted great.
I then devoured my pho in minutes, all the noodles and sliced beef, this is definitely my favourite dish especially when you're in a hurry. The satay soup wasn't too strong, I think they might have gone a little light on it this time, but it was still very good.
I was probably in and out of there in 15 minutes, and it cost me about $10. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, especially if you're looking for a quick and cheap place to eat. It is healthier, quicker, and cheaper than most fast food and food court places, plus you get to sit down in a restaurant to enjoy the meal.
Just a tip, they only accept cash here, so check your wallet before you go."

February 2009 — "If you are looking for a quick and delicious meal, then this is the restaurant to be at! I have been to this restaurant several times, and i just have to tell everyone about it.
The food is served very quickly within 5 minutes every time we have been there(even during rush periods). The portions are very generous and the price is among the most reasonable that we have been to in Calgary- we had the special beef pho (noodles) extra large and I mean extra large and we paid $6,75.
The decor was simple but you go there for the food and not the atmosphere. The service was friendly and efficient. The place was packed almost every time we go, yet we were always seated and served straight away.
There is a large selection of Vietnamese beverages including Vietnamese coffee. Oh yes, they only take cash, so remember to bring some!
