August 2011 — "We came to this restaurant on the recommendation of good friends of ours and I'm not sure we would have chosen to stop by if not for the recommendation. I say that because it's not exactly a sight to behold from the outside. But inside is lovely. The people that work there are lovely, and the food is beyond lovely. We shared calamari and an eggplant appetizer and I had gnocchi with porcini mushrooms while my boyfriend had lamb chops. The gnocchi is homemade and really there's no comparison between this and what you can buy in the store. I'm not a lamb fan so I didn't taste it but my boyfriend said it was absolutely delicious. We shared creme brulee for dessert. It's not big so we could have had one each and next time I'm not sharing - it was phenomenal. It was just an all around great experience. The prices were very honest and the service was fantastic. I'll recommend this place to many just like it was recommended to me. "

October 2010 — "We went to this restaurant for dinner. We went there with high hopes of great Italian food. Well we were in for much more than that!! We started this fantastic meal with a beautiful red wine (recommended by the staff) who I must say is one of the best I have ever been served by. We continued our meal with Scampi Della Casa, Bruschetta and muscles in a tantalizing white wine sauce, delicious!! Our main dishes were the heavily recommended Osso Bucco, the sauce was absolutely delicious and cooked with love and attention to detail. Another main we ordered was Spaghetti Alla Carbonara. I have to say I was a little worried about ordering this dish, I have had it before and it is always a hit and miss. Well not this one!! it was delicious and perfectly made. Everything was fantastic. To top things off when we left the hostess opened the door to see us out! Amazing, we will return to this restaurant for years to come. We will also recommend to anyone we know looking for delicious authentic Italian food."

"Best Italian in the city - no question"

April 2010 — "We dined at La Casa D'Italia over the weekend (April 17th) and I have to say quite honestly that it was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a LONG time. The food was amazing (more on that in a few words), the service was really REALLY good - we had a lot of fun with our waiter and with the hostess (this really added to the evening). The wine is really good too! We're not used to seeing all kinds of wine in an Italian restaurant but they had everything from Italy to France to South Africa and Australia and Spain, the US. We had a tough time picking just one so we went with a few over the course of the evening and our waiter was really good in helping us to choose. And excellent value too! We had a few glasses first (great selection by the glass) and over dinner we had a French Chardonnay (I wish I remembered the name!) and this red wine from Sicily - we got a little bit of an education on Sicilian wines. We've been sheltered I think - time to start branching out from Tuscany because this wine was nuts! I called for the name of it and it was a Nero Davola but I don't remember the winery. So good. I'll update this post when I find out because I'm planning on taking some more friends in the next couple of weeks. The food. Oh my god the food. We started with some platters of calamari to share and they gave us two kinds - some with this really nice sauce and the other just plain with pickled peppers. I wasn't sure I was going to like the one with the peppers but I ended up fighting for the last few bites! We had some different salads - I went with the Caesar (the dressing was PERFECT, not too strong, not oily, just right), while my friends tried the mushroom salad and the tomato & fresh mozzarella salad. The dressings are killer there. The hostess told us her mom makes the dressing, the desserts and the bread (don't get me started on the bread, it was incredible!) For our entrees, I had the Pollo Gorgonzola because I'm a sucker for gorgonzola cheese. Let me tell you that it was heavenly. I had to take some home with me because the portion was pretty big and I had stuffed myself on bread and appetizers. Plus I wanted dessert. The others had Veal Marsala, the salmon with lemon wine sauce and Osso Buco. My friend got the last order of the Osso Buco (which was HUGE - it looked like one of those dishes they would have on the Flintstones). He's a big eater and couldn't finish it.... (side note - it was only $28.95 and it came with sides! Who does that anymore??). Everyone was really happy with their meals, so much so that we barely spoke while we were eating! I tried a bite of all of the dishes and wow - next time I'm definitely having the veal marsala, it was the best I've EVER had. The chef and owner came out and checked on EACH and EVERY table to make sure everyone was happy. Why don't more people do that? It was a really cool thing to do and it shows that they care what we think. Dessert. We shared the three they make there because we couldn't decide. And given how incredible our dining experience had been to that point we didn't want to chance it with the gelato (I know the brand name and it's good but we wanted to keep the experience authentic). If you have time for only one piece of cheesecake in your life, make it theirs. It's creamy and delicious and dreamy and perfect. It came with a mixed berry sauce that they also make there - unreal. The creme brulee was like nothing I've had in this city. The last time I had one THAT good was in NY and it was double the price. And the tiramisu is light and creamy and airy and done honestly to perfection. It wasn't overdone and heavy like some tiramisu can be. The watress brought us liqueurs to pair with our desserts - what a nice touch! And she was spot on with them too. She brought us limoncello, Tia Maria and Chambord for the brulee. I've never had a liqueur pairing with my food! She told us she invented some of the drinks on their cocktail list - I wish I would have known that earlier because I would have tried one! Next time. And there will be a next time and another and another. I can't say enough about this place. It was lively and fun and the entire experience was very VERY positive! You'd never know what a gem this place is by looking at it from the outside but once you step and start your evening you know you're in for a treat. Loved it loved it loved it!"
