"South Centre Location"

April 2012 — "I am not a huge fan of Chili's but the South Centre location is really close to my house so when we were passing by on a Saturday afternoon we decided to stop it for some drinks and an appetizer. We sat in the lounge and it was packed. They allow children in the lounge, which doesn't bug me too much, but there was one table that was beside themselves over it. There was hockey on, and they had a few TVs, so that was a nice touch. We decided to get some hot wings as well as the Skillet Queso, a cheese dip with seasoned beef that is served with tostada chips. The wings were pretty decent, I can't complain, but the dip was absolutely disgusting. I took one bite and didn't want anymore. My wife tried to choke it back but it was too gross. It was very liquidy with very little substance, just a liquidy tasteless cheese with the consistency of soup. She ate maybe 30% of it. The server noticed and asked what was wrong and we told her it was pretty gross. They comped half of it, which was pretty nice. She said, "Yeah, that dip is pretty "American." like that was an excuse for the grossness of it. I really have tried to like Chili's over the years, but I am never truly satisfied with my meal in the end. "

"A Fun Atmosphere"

July 2011 — "We went to Chilis at Northhill Shopping Centre in the evening and enjoyed the lounge upstairs. My friend and I shared a plate of half off wings on Wednesday and a clubhouse. The clubhouse was tasty and the portion was enough to fill us both up. We also had a few beers and wine too. We had a good time there. They have a lot of drinks on the menu including a lot of fruity and tropical margaritas and a bunch of different dishes as well. You can get the regular ribs, steaks and burgers there. They cater to children as well with a kid's section on the menu. They also invite larger parties to come by offering platters. The server made light conversation with us and noticed when our meals and drinks were finished. I appreciated having a good server. The food and drinks are a little overpriced but we enjoyed ourselves and I would return with friends. "

"North Hill Shopping Centre"

Save Review

July 2011 — "The Chili's at North Hill has a warm inviting ambiance. They do pack a lot of people in at times and in our case it seemed like we were being joined by the group adjacent to us. All that separated us was a thin waist high wall. I ordered the Avacado burger for $14. It came with romaine lettuce, tomato, onion, dill pickle, and swiss cheese on a whole wheat bun. I appreciated that the patty was formed by hand and didn't have that solid preformed feel to it. All in all, I think it was a reasonably healthy meal too. It came with one choice of a side dish. I chose the loaded potatoes, which means potatoes with cheese and bacon. It was actual shredded bacon and cheddar cheese. The server was good too. My main complaint was about the drinks. Any pint of beer cost close to $8. Wine started at $8 as well. I opted for the Margarita special. (Jamaican) It was six dollars and change. I don't remember the exact ingredients, but it was much too tart and started to give me heartburn almost immediately One of the servers explained that sometimes they put too much lime in as they are busy and don't measure, but just splash it in. They didn't offer me a refund as restaurants sometimes do when customers complain. To be fair, most of it was finished when I complained. I kept thinking that the food would neutralize the acid, and to some extent it did. "

"Average Restaurant"

Save Review

July 2011 — "I visited the Chilis at North Hill with a group of seven friends, which included two small kids and a baby. The restaurant was clean and the service was ok, nothing special but nothing to complain about either. As a vegetarian, I found they didn't have much to offer other than salads. The food we ordered seemed like fast food that perhaps in some cases came from a box or was microwaved. This seemed true for the kids meals which included mac n' cheese or as the kids said, "tastes just like KD." In general Chilis is an ok, average restaurant to dine in, nothing on the menu is so good that I would want to keep coming back for more. Also, there's something cheap about a restaurant that makes you drink out of plastic glasses. A real glass would have been nice."

"Much Improved"

Save Review

April 2011 — "Well, after taking about a year off since last time we visited Chili's, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food we had tonight. Our past few experiences had not been good with cold food, messed up orders and other issues so we had banned Chili's from our "go to" list. Tonight's meal was much improved and very enjoyable. I had a new item on their menu, the Chicken Taco's. These are served in a corn tortilla, which I think make all the difference over a flour tortilla. You get four of them in an order and they were stuffed to the top with fresh fillings. Perhaps a little too much cheese for my liking, but other than that, they were very good. My husband and daughter shared the Mushroom Jack fajitas as portion size is never an issue at Chili's and there is more than enough to share. My son had a grilled Chicken burger from the kids menu, which he enjoyed however, I thought it odd that they put absolutely NOTHING on the bun with the chicken. The tables and area were clean, the staff was very attentive and there was almost no wait time on a Saturday night. I think they may have won us back."

"Nice Airport Stop"
Image

Save Review

December 2010 — "My sister and I had some time to kill while waiting at the airport for a flight recently so we stopped by the Chili's. There seemed to be a lot of servers on for the amount of customers and when I sat down my table hadn't been cleaned or re-set. It also took quite some time for a server to come over. However, once our server did make it over she was great. She took our order right away, brought the food and drinks out quickly and, realizing that we were in a bit of a rush, brought the bill out right away too. The restaurant has a huge drink menu of cocktails, wine and beer. We each had a Rickards Red pint, which was very expensive. I imagine it's the price we had to pay for having limited choice at the airport. We also shared some spinach dip was really good and filling. We had lots of extra chips so also got a size of salsa that was nothing amazing but fine. Other than the slow service at the start and the expense of what is basically a local beer, it was a enjoyable visit. "

"Chili's is A Good Bet for your Vegetarian Buck"
Image

Save Review

August 2010 — "Chili's has a good selection for vegetarians and pseudo-vegetarians alike so I like to go there with friends as there is a good selection. They even note when eggs/dairy is used. Nice. I had a creamy garlic cajun pasta with a side of bread and a beer, all for under $15. The chef added some vegetable for me which I appreciated, instead of the meat (you can add chicken or shrimp). The food was piping hot and very tasty, and the cream was thick and sweet and spicy. The ambiance is fine but the music is usually too loud, the only downside to this restaurant for me. This Chili's is always clean and generally the servers are quick and friendly. To finish off the meal we had a dessert sampler - shot glasses of key lime pie, cinnamon, and chocolate fudge. They were very rich and tasty and it was nice to enjoy without over-indulging. I would recommend this restaurant in North Hill mall for anyone who likes variety with a spice. "

"Good Basic Restaurant"

July 2010 — "A friend and I went to Chili's at North Hill Mall for a quick bite to eat when we were passing by. The menu has a decent variety to choose from, including a vegetarian burger which is a nice option. The service was appropriate but nothing special. We found the open set-up of the restaurant made it quite loud and difficult to have conversation at times, but the booths were comfortable. They have some excellent drinks that are worth trying, especially the upside down Coronita bottle in a lime margarita slush!! The food was served fairly promptly and tasted good. There really wasn't anything to complain about, but everything was just average. We didn't try any desserts and I don't even think I looked at the dessert menu so I am unable to comment on that. I wouldn't recommend Chili's as a nice date restaurant, but for a basic family style meal it is a good option."

"Pretty Good Food"

June 2010 — "I've dined at the Chilis at North Hill Mall a few times over the fast couple months and I must say, something has improved with that place lately. The food tastes better than it used to (still not amazing though) and when I used to go there I hated how I'd leave smelling like fajitas, but when you sit in the bar this does not happen to you! The last time I went I had the smoked turkey sandwich with maple bacon, arugula, tomatoes and honey mustard. It was pretty good, definitely better than it used to taste. My wife had the chicken tacos, which I thought tasted really, really dry, they definitely need some sauce. The service was good and the atmosphere was awesome, we watched soccer on TV. It's not my favourite place to eat, but it is no longer a disappointment so I think I will definitely be back. "

"Worst Steak Ever"
Image

Save Review

January 2010 — "This review is for the Chili restaurant on 16th Ave North, just West of SAIT, in the North Hill Shopping Center area. Anyway, just had the worst steak ever there. I was with several friends, and who ever ordered the Rib-eye steak was very disappointed. Overdone, tough, dry. How do you ruin a prime cut of beef like this? For a $30 entree, I was expecting a lot more. Also, the stuff that goes with it, veggies etc, were OK, but again much to be desired. I also ordered onion rings, but got some kind of onion parts coated with stuff. Not what I wanted. Fair / Good service however. Only the food was bad. "

"Ok, but not great"
Image

Save Review

May 2009 — "My husband, 1 year old son and I stopped in here the other night for a quick Friday night dinner. This place looks like a great place to drink and have bar food, but is also child friendly. They brought crayons and paper for our son and the high chair was actually not too bad looking. Service was ok, not very efficient and forgot a lot of stuff, but friendly. The food was not great. I really didn't think they could mess up a burger and steamed vegetables that badly, so I was satisfied. It was a fairly expensive meal for what we got and would probably not go back again. "

March 2009 — "My husband, daughter and I went to Chili’s restaurant for an early dinner on a Friday night. Since we went early, we did not have to wait, not was the restaurant too busy. The atmosphere there is casual dining and it is more than suitable for children. The service was extremely fast and our waitress was friendly. She told us that she was new but we thought she did a good job. I ordered the mesquite chicken salad. It came with chicken breast, bacon, cheese, corn relish, tortilla strips in addition to the greens. It was a salad that was not too heavy yet it was still filling. The portion size was adequate and the price was reasonable. They had a wide variety on this menu and also on the children’s menu. I used the restroom at the restaurant and it was decent and clean. Overall our dining experience was good and we would go back again. "

"Reliably Good Breakfast!"
Image

Save Review

December 2008 — "When we were recently at the Calgary Airport in the Air Canada departure area, we decided to grab a very quick breakfast at Chili's Grill & Bar since our flight was delayed for a few minutes. Almost every time we take a flight, we end up dining at one of the locations that Chili has in the Calgary Airport. The restaurant offers a limited selection of breakfast favourites like Eggs Benedict, Skillets and Omelets. The great thing about airport restaurants is that the serve beer all day, so we ordered beers to accommodate our breakfast. I had a regular breakfast with bacon and eggs, which tasted really great, perhaps due to my hunger. My wife had Eggs Benedict and thought it was very good. The best part of it all was that the server didn't like when she said the food could be out in less than 10 minutes. I believe we were there a total of 20 minutes, which was really convenient since we were on such a tight schedule. "

"Good Atmosphere, Okay Food"

November 2008 — "We decided to check out the Northhill location since it was close to the Jubilee Theatre and we just got out of a show. The first thing I noticed about the restaurant was their music/soundtrack playing, which was great! I really enjoyed the fun tracks and it brought a good energy to the place. Both my friend and I ordered items off their Guiltless Grill Menu, offering lower calorie and carb options. I had the salmon and my friend had the chicken. Both were really dry and overcooked, and one plate was missing rice that was supposed to come with the meal. We had to wait a bit for the food but the waitress was really good about checking on us and refilling our drinks. She also advised us that there would be a wait so I really appreciated that. If you pay with your bank card they have a 15% button key that automatically adds the correct tip to your total-a very cool feature. "
