February 2011 — "Having only the better part of your lunch hour shouldn't deter you from checking out the Fireside. However, if you've more time, it's totally worth it. Primary reason: the food. It doesn't get any better; here in Sylvan, or Edmonton or Toronto. Believe me, I've tried many restaurants in each of these places, and I love the food at the Fireside. Dave, the owner and chef just makes every dish that kind of "special" that only mama, or nana can make it at home. I've been there numerous times over the past 3 yrs. and every time I leave full of deliche cuisine & usually have bumped into one or two friends as well. Other great reasons to enjoy the Fireside are the super huge sports screen & at least four - 36" monitors for pretty much any sports event. The owner is a sports fanatic, and there's a host of watchable sports via satellite either in progress or instantly on cue. A pool table (4x8) in excellent condition is available and commands a large following of friendly local competition. Whether it's just to have one of the coldest beers in town & visit with friends, or catching up with a collegue over a bottle of wine, it's a really great place to be."

August 2009 — "We reserved a table for 14 two months in advance on a Saturday night. Being in the industry myself for 5 years i knew a Saturday night anywhere around 7 it is going to be busy, food is going to take a while and your server will be busy as well... We arrived at 7 our table was only set for 10.. waited for 10-15 minutes and finally got 3 jugs of beer between the 14 of us but was not offered more drinks for the rest of the night.. 2 hours later (we were sitting on the patio) our food hadn't come yet so we were cold and asked to be move inside.. 15 minutes later our food came upstairs.. we told the servers that had our food that we had asked to be moved inside... still no one came to let us know if our table inside was ready or not.. we decided to head inside ourselves and a few of our dishes were on the table already.. cold.. still no drinks were offered.. no quality check.. some people didn't receive the salad that was supposed arrive before their entrée.. then in one of our friends cooked vegetables there was a cooked worm. The server said she would get the owner.. ten minutes later a women came over and told us its the season for bugs and it would happen in any restaurant then apologized at the end of her cooked worm speech and paid for the one meal. The food was definitely not bad (kind of lost my appetite after the worm though), but i have never experience anything like that night at a restaurant in my life and would highly recommend staying away from the fireside in sylvan lake if you are a big group. "

March 2009 — "While working in Sylvan Lake, my crew and I headed to the Fireside Restaurant & Lounge, intrigued by its name as we are bricklayers and wanted to check out the fireplaces. Ironically, the restaurant actually had just one fireplace and it was tiny and gas. They really should rename the restaurant to something else, because it's definitely not an impressive "fireside" experience.
I ordered the special, which was the steak and chicken combo. It was alright tasting, I cleaned my plate but I had worked all day and was starving so I would have likely eaten anything by that time.
The restaurant was very slow that night, probably just eight other people in the place when we were there. The service was pretty good until she had given us the bill and then she disappeared and never came back until we had to track her down to pay it, which was pretty annoying."

November 2008 — "I have driven past this restaurant in Sylvan Lake many times but just recently I had a chance to meet up with friends there for dinner.
The restaurant was fairly full for a Saturday evening but the hostess had us seated quickly and our waitress was there in no time with menus and drink orders.
The menu is extensive with pasta, pizza, chicken, seafood and steak dishes available. We tried the steak special which at $12 seemed reasonably priced. It was a decent sized steak and was cooked just as we had requested. The steak came with garlic bread, a salad, vegetables and fries. A good sized meal for the price. We passed on desserts but there seemed to be a good selection if you can fit dessert in after such a big meal.
This is a very clean and nicely decorated establishment and the fireplace on a cold night was a nice touch. The restroom was clean and well looked after too. I would definitely give the Fireside Restaurant and Lounge the thumbs up."
