November 2008 — "I'm not sure how this place got its unusual name, but it's a legend of it's own in this part of central Alberta. You can find it easily by the landmark blue light flashing on the roof of the building. We stopped in for a drink one Saturday evening just to relax and "people watch" at the bar. Aside from the VLTs in the corner the decor looks as though it's been lifted from an old western movie set - lots of wooden tables and fence railings around the place. You can also spend a lot of time just looking at all the photos on the walls of the "regulars" who have made the Monkey Top their favourite saloon over the years. We ordered our beer and a plate of wings. The waitress was pleasant and chatted to us for a while - a nice touch these days and one you wouldn't find in some of the bigger bars. The service was quick too - fresh wings that hadn't been sitting under a heat lamp for hours and hours. They were served with a nice ranch dipping sauce and were delicious. I'm not a Caesar drink fan but I hear the Monkey Top Caesars are very popular here. Bentley is a small town and if you're remotely in the area I suggest stopping in at the Monkey Top."
