June 2010 — "I have eaten at Taco Del Mar located in Fifth Avenue Place in downtown Calgary countless times since it opened, most recently in June. The setup of the restaurant is extremely efficient, and you will often see a long line trailing all the way out the door. This line moves very fast, with the assembly line meal preparation taking place in the back of the restaurant. The worst part of going to eat at Taco Del Mar is deciding what to order. I am often torn between the mondo burrito or the taco salad. Either choice is always a good one, but I'm usually debating up until the minute I'm forced to order. When I was there in June, I decided on the taco salad. Once you order, they get out whatever kind of tortilla(s) your meal requires, then you choose whether you would like refried or black beans, then your choice of meat (ground beef, chicken, steak, pork) and what kind of sauce (mild or hot) and any extras. The efficiency in this operation is remarkable and the food never disappoints. I think I'll have to go back this week for a mondo burrito."

January 2009 — "I'm not sure why I had never heard about Taco del Mar until recently, but I have to say that it offers really good and pretty cheap Mexican food. I have gone there twice this week and almost went again tonight! Set up like a deli-style restaurant, Taco del Mar offers made-to-order burritos, quesadillas, nachos, tacos and enchiladas. They let you choose what sauces, whether or not you want to have sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, jalapenos, rice, type of beans etc. They have platters that come with rice, tacos or enchiladas and a choice of beans - refried or black. You can also choose the type of meat you want - chicken, beef or pork. Since the food is custom made to your liking, it really hits the spot.
The service has been very good and they take the time to explain to you what options you have with your platters etc. The restaurant was very clean and the Mexican music was a really nice touch. I'm so glad I found this place because it is a cheap and delicious place to grab a quick meal. In fact, it tastes a lot better than some of the more expensive Mexican restaurants I have been to in this city."

November 2008 — "Tried the NE location of Taco Del Mar yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it is. This beats standard fast food any day!
Both my husband and I were hungry, so we went for the Taco & Enchilada Platter. The concept is a bit like Subway, where you get to choose your meats, toppings and some sides. We both chose a chicken enchilada. I had a carne asada taco, while he went for the mole pork, which ended up being the slightly better choice. We both had seasoned rice, refried beans and generous blobs of salsa, guacamole, sour cream and medium spicy sauce to top off the plate. It was plenty of food for the $8 price tag. Everything had great flavour and spicing too - even the medium hot sauce left my mouth tingling.
There are standard tables and chairs for seating, and a couple of little booths tucked in the back, so it doesn't feel completely utilitarian. I also enjoyed the spanish streaming radio. "
