December 2011 — "Swiftsure Restaurant on the inner harbour is another local favorite in Victoria. I would walk by during the summer and the large patio would always be busy. We decided to try the lounge out as a few people recommended their lounge menu for a relaxing dining experience. We were arrived we were not really welcomed by the only server working, but the bartender said “hello” as we walked by to find a table. It wasn’t very busy so we had a good selection of tables to choose from.Our server was very attentive and asked if we would like a drink right away, and she brought our drinks just a quickly. My husband’s draft was stale and our server apologized and brought him a new one, this time a fresh draft with flavour.The menu offers a variety of choices and very generous portions. I tried the grill tuna opened faced sandwich and it was grilled perfectly. I tried their version of yam fries and chipotle sauce (so good!). My husband tried their beer battered fish and chips and we were both pleasantly surprized on the portion of fish, two healthy sizes and all fish, not just half fish and half batter that you find in other establishments. Our server did at least two quality checks which I believe is great customer service. Other than the first stale draft beer the Swiftsure was a great relaxing dining experience! I can’t wait to go back during the summer to sit on the patio to enjoy the sunshine, view and food. "

"DECENT BREAKFAST"

December 2011 — "After a night out on the town, we decided to have our brerakfast at the Swiftsure Restaurant, meeting friends we had enjoyed the evening with. Our server was extremely prompt and efficient, but lacked any type of people skills. The restaurant decor is nothing special, located in the Days Inn, most tables overlooking the US ferry terminals. Your breakfast menu holds all the usual breakfast items. I chose the eggs benedict, my husband the "Eye Opener"; eggs any style, bacon, ham or sausage, hasbrowns or fruit and toast. Our friends each ordered the Eye Opener as well. All with ham, poached eggs and fruit. I am always concerned about poached eggs, I like them cooked outside but runny inside and I find I have to explain this to all servers, as I have asked for medium and received the yokes hard as rocks, or soft have been almost raw. Our coffee was hot and the server filled our cups often. When our meals arrived, I was extremely pleased, my eggs were perfect. I did notice the hollandaise was very bland and the eggs were very small, definitely not large eggs. But overall the meals were good, the fruit was in a small bowl and included grapes, cantalope, strawberries, and pineapple. It was very good. A nice spot, but there are many restaurants in town which are much better for the same price or less. $28.50 including tax."

August 2011 — "Swiftsure is located along the Victoria Harbour in the Days Inn.
Our server was very pleasant and sincere where we were from and what we were doing in Victoria. She spent extra time at our table listening to where we've been and then suggesting other places to visit.
I had fish and chips. The 2 pieces of fish I had were huge and tasty (cod). The fresh seemed to be fresh cut. The coleslaw was delicious and there was restaurant made tartar sauce that was great (I usually hate tartar sauce)!
The server again was very prompt and friendly, ensuring our drinks were kept filled and that our meals were OK.

August 2010 — "It was a warm evening when we went and they have a large patio that's perfect for drinks. We were there on Sunday which is when they have a DJ, who was ok. It was better than nothing!
I ordered a crab and fish pot pie and I really liked it. I had dined before at the restaurant right next door, and I think they share the same kitchen. I did not like the chicken sandwich I had ordered and so I hadn't come back for a long time. I gave it a second chance and it worked out well. My husband ordered the prime rib and he enjoyed it too, so we will be coming back! I just won't order any chicken sandwiches!"

December 2009 — "This restaurant was one of our trip highlights to Victoria recently. We had stayed at the hotel attached and were given a choice of three different free hot breakfasts. That was a plus. We also went there for dinner and we were greeted by friendly staff, and seated quickly by the window, with a harbour view. The menu was extensive but because turkey was on my mind, I ordered the hot herb roasted turkey sandwich. It came open faced with homemade tasting gravy and yummy creamy mashed potatoes. My dining partner chose the steak sandwich with sauteed mushrooms. He said it was done to perfection and the brie cheese with the garlic toast was delicious. The seasonal veggies were hot and fresh tasting. Our server was helpful and attentive to us.
There is also a lounge that has different menu features every day. The atmosphere is cheery and quite cozy.Next time in Victoria we hope to return."

June 2009 — "My husband and I gave this restaurant three chances in the fast few months. Might have been a bad day just on the first visit. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. To be fair, I must say the service was very good, but if you are hungry, that is of little comfort."

"Great View of the Harbour"

June 2008 — "Swiftsure Restaurant is located in the inner harbour of Victoria. It offers a spectacular view and has a patio that is perfect for tourist watching. The patio tends to be very crowded during the summer months and you may have quite a wait for a table. The inside of the restaurant is poorly decorated and cramped with tables so the patio is well worth the wait. They offer daily drink and food specials that are very fair priced. The menu contains the usual pub fare with large portions but the prices are a bit high. They do have some exotic and tasty drinks on the menu like a raspberry mojito but they too are overpriced running around $7 each. The food tends to be pretty bland and not a lot of care appears to go into preparation and presentation. I had nachos that, although a large serving with lots of cheese, vegetables and chicken, was hard to eat as they were way over cooked. The cheese was burned on and the topping were completely dried out-the chips completely crumbled as you tried to pull them off.
The service was poor as the restaurant is so busy that the servers are run off their feet.Overall I wasn't impressed with my dining experience at the Swiftsure. I would only recommend this restaurant if you want a nice patio overlooking the inner harbour.

September 9 — "We ate here for breakfast while waiting for our ferry ride to Seattle on the Clipper because it's just a 2 min walk from the terminal. There was plenty of seating and it was Saturday morning around 9:45am which tends to be pretty busy at other downtown breakfast places. Hence, the convenience--being close to the terminal and getting immediate seating.
As for the food, it was ~ok~ but I wouldn't normally come here for a breakfast without the ferry ride. I ordered the Neptune Omelet which had shrimp and smokes salmon. I understand fish is fish, but the smell was too "fishy". It was my first time getting smoked salmon in a breakfast item, so I don't know if it was the way it was cooked, or if this is normal.
The decor was dated but I didn't mind. It's kind of funny actually. "
