May 2011 — "Earl’s on Government Street is a great dining atmosphere for a casual and stylish lunch or dinner. My friend was visiting from the east coast and Nova Scotia doesn’t have and Earl’s, I thought it would be a treat for her to experience the great service I consistency experience. When we arrived she was pleasantly surprised to the comfortable but upscale atmosphere. The host was very welcoming; as we were seated the host welcomed us again and gave us a bit of information about the features being served that evening. Our server took our drink order right away and we ordered an appetizer while we reviewed the west coast casual menu. I enjoyed the Santa Fe Chicken salad with a local wine and my friend really enjoyed the Chicken and brie sandwich with Earl’s own brew. Our server was very attentive and the host even walked by to see how we were enjoying our evening. My friend really enjoyed her first experience at Earl’s. I highly recommend Earl’s on Government Street, the staff is friendly, food is fantastic, and the experience exceptional!"

April 2011 — "Earl's was a surprise and a delight. It's a huge restaurant with lots of seating but still manages to create privacy with dim lighting and contemporary decor. The food was really good, came really fast and was hot -which is exactly what you want in a restaurant. I found the selection amazing -everything from big burgers to seafood, pastas and stir-fry. It seemed a bit pricey, but then, eating out anywhere is getting pricey so it was well worth it. "

"Delicious Salmon Salad"Ty
December 2010 — "I took my boys (7 and 9) to Earl's the other day, and we enjoyed good food and good service. I had the Honey Glazed Salmon Salad and my boys shared their Bigger Better Burger. My salad was delicious (green beans, faro, cranberries, squash) and the burger was excellent. I would definitely go back. My only quibble is that my salad cost $18."

September 2009 — "I had tried Earl's before at a different location. The move was definitely worth it. Located in the Bay Centre in downtown Victoria, it is easy to find. It is a fairly large place and was quite busy when we were there for lunch. They had plenty of staff on though so we didn't find we were waiting too long for our orders. The restaurant is sectioned so you can either sit in the pub side or bring your children into the restaurant side. The menu is large with lots for any picky eater. There was alot of sushi type dishes offered as well. We tried the hummus flatbread to start but two out of four of us didn't like it. We also had the sushi shrimp rolls, calamari and chicken fingers all to share. It was a good variety and there was plenty of food for the four of us to share. Keep in mind the we were already looking over the dessert menu and wanted to leave space. My friend and I ordered the toffee chocolate cake and the two kids ordered cheescake to share. Our chocolate cake was the best. I am not generally a chocolate lover but I would go back just for this cake. Overall, good experience and would go back. "

"consistent chicken curry"

June 2009 — "The one thing about Earls is the consistency at each of their locations. The menu is standardised, the décor is always similar and the service tends to be efficient. Earls in downtown Victoria has a great location on Government street with a small seating area outside but is large inside. I have been there twice in recent months, once at lunch and once on Friday night. The restaurant is packed at lunch and very noisy. I was attending a business lunch meeting and we were seated at the far end of the restaurant in a small room but there were no doors so the noise in the restaurant made it hard to hear a presentation. For my evening meal we were seated by the window looking at Government street and that is a good spot plus the fact that there is a heater near the door so you will not be cold. My favourite dish at Earls is the Jeera Chicken Curry and decided to order that on both occasions. At $16.00 it may seem pricey but it is worth it, the meal is tasty plus comes with two huge slices of Naan Bread. We did share the baby calamari starter and that was okay, not the best calamari I have ever had but I will be back for the chicken curry."

May 2009 — "I have found Earls to consistently have the best Indian curry around. I now get the Jeera Chicken Curry every time I go, and am consistently impressed with how good it is. It is served with basmati rice and naan bread, and I find it to have very deep and authentic flavors not expected from a "trendy" bar and restaurant like this. They also have a pretty good selection of beer, which obviously go hand in hand. I enjoy the food at earls, and the service is also usually quite good, but I would not recommend it as a venue for a meeting or presentation. We did have a private room in the back, but it was still very loud and hard to hear the presenters. Granted we were there at noon, and the restaurant is consistently packed at lunch, but the layout of the Victoria location is just not well designed for private meetings. "

October 2008 — "On this Saturday night, a few of us went out to Earls for appetizers and drinks. If you like big screen TV's with sports playing on them, this is the place to go! The place was packed and we had to wait 20 minutes for a seat so we decided to grab a seat and drink at the bar. The restaurant got louder and louder as the night went on (we were there for 3 hours) and we found we had to yell to be heard. If you don't mind yelling for a bit, it's a great place to go because the food and service is consistent. We ordered calamari, dry ribs, and edamame and found everything to arrive in a decent time and tasted great! The drinks also came quickly which was a surprise given the crowd that night. Doubles go for about $8 and the food is on par with other similar establishments. Earls is nothing fancy or new but it's relaxing and comfy!"
