November 2011 — "While visiting friends in Leeds, we decided to have an Indian meal at Akbar’s. Unlike a lot of Indian restaurants in the UK, Akbar’s has a very contemporary and trendy décor and is known for its great food and vibrant atmosphere, which is exactly what we got. I’m vegetarian so I ordered a mushroom and potato pori for a starter, and a vegetable achari balti for my main course. We also ordered a table naan (huge naan for up to six people that comes to your table hanging from a hook) and a jug of the house lassi. As expected, the food was great, but I got full very quickly with all that we ordered and couldn’t finish my main course (and being in England, people don’t really take home their leftovers so I was sad to leave it behind). Therefore, when I go again, I’ll definitely skip the starter. And I will go again – it’s busy, tasty and not too pricey by British standards. "
