September 2011 — "My quick bite to eat for my day trip in Edmonton was a quick stop at Tokyo Express. Honestly, I didn’t have huge expectations for it, and it didn’t let me down. I ordered their special bento box with some tea on the side. You don’t get much service and that’s not even that bad, but my disappointed really elevated when I saw that my food and rolls were just not up to par. I feel like I could have easily put it together and made something similar. And it was all for a more expensive price than the quick grab and go sushi places in the malls, which to me, are a lot more interesting and yummy, I think at least. There is some variety with the rolls, including some cooked proteins, like chicken, beef and noodles. But selection really doesn’t make up for the quality, or the lack thereof. Sorry, but that is my warning to you all. I’m sure there are other options. "

January 2011 — "Tokyo Express used to be my MOST favourite restaurant for the quality of the food, speed and value.
Not anymore.
Around 2.30 pm on Jan 4 2011, two friends and I dropped by the Tokyo Express Heritage location (10871 23 Ave) in Edmonton, Alberta.
My friend's order got messed up, and she was made to wait long after the rest of us got our orders. She was offered neither apology nor any other amends for the abnormally long wait.
Of all the supplies normally made freely available to customers at any other Tokyo Express location, there were only the ice water, chopsticks and some plastic tea spoons; you had to ask for napkins, cutlery and everything else you might need.
The soy sauce bottles were rather messy; it looked like no one has cleaned them after refilling for quite some time.
After we finished eating, I went to the bathroom to wash off a soy sauce stain out of my sweater (can dress me up, can't take me out).
There was no paper towel, and no toilet paper in the free stall to save me from having to actually soak my sweater; the only other stall was occupied with a tell-tale aroma spreading around, signifying that this may be too long of a wait just to get some toilet paper for blotting my wet sweater.
The entire time it took me to wash out the stain the stall remained occupied. When the long-awaited flush finally came, I stepped away from the sink to give way to the stall occupant.
The stall door flew open, and the same employee who took our orders earlier darted out past me and out the door like a speeding bullet, without so much as a glance toward the sink, wiping her hands on the butt of her jeans.
I almost barfed out everything I just ate and fell out of the bathroom. The employee resumed her stand at the store front counter, still wiping her hands on her butt.
I hoped beyond all reason that this was the only employee with such anti-sanitary habits and that she was not allowed anywhere near the kitchen.
Their restaurant's "tell us how we did today" glass cube was empty, and there were no paper and no pens in sight. But the manager's number was listed under the sign.
I called and left a message on his voice mail, although judging by the state of maintenance of the rest of the restaurant, the fish rots from the head.
I made sure to post this on my facebook and text-blasted everyone I know to warn them not to eat at that location."

January 2011 — "Try Tokyo Express for some fast but good sushi when you are on 23rd Avenue. I really liked the chicken rice bowl (warm) and I tried the sushi rolls (maki rolls), too. I filled myself up for less than thirteen bucks and everything was as expected and delicious. I would recommend a trying a mix of the hot and cold offerings as both were very good. Lots of options for vegetarians, too. I definitely recommend it. "

October 2008 — "We went to Tokyo Sushi Express for lunch while we were visiting Edmonton. We came across the restaurant by chance as we were leaving the Whyte Avenue area heading for our hotel. We were having a late lunch and did not want too much so we thought this would be the perfect choice. The restaurant appeared to be quite new inside and it was very clean (including the restroom). We ordered dynamite rolls, shrimp tempura rolls and smoked salmon rolls and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi. It was very good! The rolls were made when we ordered so they were nice and fresh. They were served with ginger, wasabi and soy sauce and we really enjoyed them. The prices was very reasonable, especially for the quality. Our 15 month old daughter dined with us and although we did not order anything for her, the atmosphere was certainly appropriate for kids. We will definitely visit this restaurant again for some quick, good quality sushi. "

October 2008 — "As we discussed what to have for a late light lunch, Tokyo Sushi Express was passing by. We pulled into the strip mall and headed in. the décor was very “fast food like” with the ordering from the till, and the counter clerk calling your number out when the food was ready. I ordered the mini smoke salmon rolls, and mini dynamite rolls. With the name “mini” I was expecting to have to order more, but to my surprise when the food was ready, they were actually quite big rolls, and I was more than full when finished. The sushi rolls were very fresh, with my only small complaints being the rice fell apart too easily when picked up, and the ginger came in a package. The staff was very friendly, but did not help out too much while I was deciding what to order. If you are driving by Tokyo Sushi Express and are in need of a fast quality lunch, I recommend giving them a try."
