"The WORST customer service"

June 2011 — "Just returned with a group of co-workers from the lunch that never happened at Beckhams. Our order was rung in at 12:10 according to our waitress, yet at 1:10 the food was still MIA. Quite disappointing as we had a fairly simple order and nothing out of the ordinary (unless sweet potato fries have become unusual). Our waitress noted that several tables that had arrived after us, were well into their lunch and yet our order had not surfaced. So is this a big deal? I am sure that all of us can live with a missed meal, but this is the THIRD time that this has happened to us at this location. So take heed going for lunch may not be the best choice, there are other spots in the area that do much better at getting the office crew fed, watered and returned to work within the time frame of 1 hour. While the convenience of Beckhams is appealing, the lack of service and/or food takes them off my list of lunch options. "

"nice neighbourhood pub"

March 2011 — "This pub has become a regular place for us now. It is very close to our place and has become the new watering hole of our group. The food is very good and also very reasonably priced. I ordered the fish and chips for around $12 and the fish was huge, crisp, and not oily at all (which I see happens a lot) The fries, well, you can’t mess up fries! I was very pleased with this meal. At that price, I was really quite happy about it. The place itself is a really good place to hang out with friends and catch a game or two. And the service was personable and kind. They are quick and efficient, and yet, still able to chat with you. Like I said before, we’ve been here a lot, and will definitely be back again. The location is just too convenient for us."

March 2011 — "My husband and I (35 & 28yrs) have now tried 24 pubs in Calgary. We have been keeping a "pub score" on all of the pubs that we've been too. There are MANY pubs we will NEVER return to. We've been back to Beckham's time and time again. Beckham's on CENTRE ST is a great neighbourhood pub. Excellent staff - courteous & efficient. Good pub fare - do try the pizza, it is excellent! And I really like the option of having 2 sides with your entreés - caesar salad and yam fries are my personal fav! (clam chowder is delicious) Good prices as well! 8.5/10"

"Pretty Good Sports Pub"

March 2011 — "For a pub in a somewhat residential area, I was really surprised by how nice the interior to Beckhams is. It honestly looks like a bar that should be somewhere downtown, with walls lined with flat screens and a modern dark wood detailing. In the past I've had their burgers which are always a decent buy (especially considering they always include two side items), this time however I decided to try out the "Italian" pizza. In hindsight, I should probably stick to Beckhams' burgers. The pizza was boring with absolutely nothing to differentiate it from any one of a number pub pizzas I've had in the past. I'm not sure if it was our proximity to the bar or the fact it was a rather slow night, but the service was outstanding. Our drinking seemed to be brought to us almost immediately after ordering, and our server was very good at making sure we all knew what the specials were."

"Poor Food but a place to watch a game"

October 2010 — "Wanting to meet with some friends for lunch, and somewhere not downtown, we decided to try Beckhams Pub. They had a small parking lot out front, but it was limited and I ended up having to park approx. 1 block away. When I walked into the pub, I was quite surprised by the wall to wall flat screen tv's that they had. Although I was not there to watch any particular sporting event, I did think that it would be a great spot to watch. For lunch, I decided on the fish and chips. On the menu, they advertise 2 large pieces, however, when I got my meal, there was only one piece. I did not question the waitress as I wasn't really hungry anyhow and didn't want to cause any scene. After receiving just one piece of fish, I should have realized what I was in for. The fish was nothing more than something I could have had with Captain Highliner. It was dry, greasy and definitely something I will never order again at this place (if I return). The service was satisfactory, but by no means any better than average. The price for the fish and chips was $12, which I would consider decent....that is, if the food was decent, which it was not. If you want to go to a place to watch a sporting event and have some drinks, I can see this as being a good place to go. If you are looking for some decent food, I don't recommend it."

"Greasy Wings"

August 2010 — "I have eaten at Beckham's on Centre Street numerous times with friends and have found the service and atmosphere consistently appealing for a neighbourhood pub. My one complaint about the layout would be that it can be difficult to navigate around the tables as they are a bit crammed together and I never like it when pubs have the bathrooms in the basement but that's personal preference. The food, however, can be a bit hit or miss. On my last visit, my boyfriend and I went on wing night with another couple. We ordered plenty of wings and beer to go around. The beer was cold and refreshing, however we were absolutely astounded with the amount of grease on the wings. Once we got down to the bottom of a couple of the baskets, there was literally a pool of grease at the bottom. It was revolting and left us wishing we hadn't eaten at all. On other occasions I have found the wings to be better than that, with an assortment of good flavours to choose from. I was very disappointed to have this experience with the grease as it makes me much less inclined to return. At least not for wing night."

May 2009 — "I went to Beckham's with some friends on a Saturday night during a hockey game. The ambiance was alright although there was an overabundance of guys instead of girls. They have plenty of TVs so there's no way you would miss and sports action unless you wanted too. I had the Beckham's Royale pizza and it was really good especially considering Beckham's is a pub. I was pleasantly surprised. The crust was thick and the pizza was full of flavor and the small size was just the right amount, although an appetizer would have been good to go along with it as well seeing as how I'm a glutton. April 2009 — "The Beckhams on 32nd ave is on the way home from work for myself and most of my co-workers, so we usually end up stopping for a beer after a long day. The set-up is wonderful, a long bar with lots of stool, if thats what you prefer, or booths near the front and tall tables near the back. They have a large array of tasty appetisers, as well as full meals to choose from. I recommend wings or the pizza, but there is something for everyone. The service is always good and the managers or owners are always mingling and making for a good atmosphere. I would recommend Beckhams to anyone and everyone."

"Spaghetti Pizza....mmmmmm!"

November 2008 — "In the past couple of months a new pub has opened in my neighbourhood called Beckham's. We have been there a couple of times, and have thought it was pretty good. On our most recent visit we went on a Monday night, as we had previously tried to dine there on a Wednesday night and the place was so packed we had to leave. What I noticed first when walking into Beckham's is the weird layout of the pub. Everytime someone walks in, it seems that the entire pub turns around and looks at them. It's because the tables are laid out in a way that starts and the door and stretches to the far end of the narrow, open restaurant. Our server was quite friendly and informed us that there was a lasagna or spaghetti special, where you get a plate for something like $7.95, but if you can't finish it, you can't take it with you - instead she would have to throw it out. Kind of weird, especially since the regular lasagna was only $10 and you could take it home if you couldn't finish it. Anyhow, one person in our party opted for the lasagna and surprisingly, he couldn't finish it. We started with some hot wings, which were very good, and then my girlfriend and I split the spaghetti pizza. We were both intrigued by the idea of eating spaghetti on a pizza, and the fact of the matter is that we actually enjoyed it. It had spaghetti noodles on it, meatballs and lots of cheese. Interesting concept! I know we'll be back to Beckham's again one day since it's in the neighbourhood, I just wish the layout was a bit different so you don't feel like you're intruding in someone's living room party everytime you walk in the door!"

"It's All About What Location You Go To!"

October 2008 — "Beckham's has just opened up a new pub off Center Street in the NW (our neighborhood) so we decided to visit the pub that used to be the Regal Beagle. They have really changed the interior, and it looks MUCH better. Very open and contemporary with big windows at the front. Our server was attentive and we ordered some Keith's, which were only $5/pint. Not sure if that's a special during Saturday lunches, but not a bad price at all. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak with fries and Caesar salad and my husband had some type of BBQ burger. Both were very good and tasted a lot better than the other location we have visited in the past in Northeast Calgary. We will definitely go back to this location."

"Avoid the NE Location!"

September 2008 — "We had never been to Beckham's Pub before, but a friend of mine kept insisting that we try the wings at the NE location. One night we were in the neighborhood and decided to stop by the NE location, which is located in a strip mall and has huge planes flying over it. The interior was dated and it was kind of reminiscent of a banquet hall or cafeteria with the types of tables they were using. The place was packed, however, so we sat by the window and ordered wings to start and then my husband ordered the Alexander Keith's battered fish and chips, while I opted for the Chicken Souvlaki wrap... both come with two sides, which is nice. Unfortunately, our server forgot about our wings, so our main courses came right away and we canceled the wings. My wrap was pretty good, and my Greek salad and fries were tasty, but my husband's fish and chips were definitely not Alexander Keith's battered - they looked like Highliner fish and chips that you can buy at the grocery store. He was not a fan at all. After this experience, we decided that we knew some better pubs with better food so probably would never go back. "
