March 2010 — "March 2010 - With limited time and empty stomachs my boyfriend and I decided to try something new and check out Wok Box thinking we may get a nice fresh dinner. We were wrong. The first thing I noticed when arriving was a cheesy array of Asian influenced decorations amongst flat screen TV’s that did not work properly. I found it very strange that the owner (my boyfriend later spoke with him and confirmed that he was in fact the owner), was sitting at one of the patron tables clearly doing business work on his computer – did not look very professional at all. It also seemed like he was straining his ears to hear what guests were saying about the food…awkward! Aside from that, the service was very efficient and the staff were incredibly friendly. The menu is very difficult to navigate through and is a mix of Chinese, Japanese and Thai with possible Indian influence (there were curries on the menu though I am not sure if they were Thai or Indian). I decided to get a Singapore Cashew dish based on the fact that I know it is a fairly simple dish and I generally enjoy meals like that, and my boyfriend ordered the Mongolian stir fry dish (approximately $10 each). I am also a sucker for spring rolls so I ordered one as an appetizer. Although the word “fresh” is all over the menu, neither of our meals tasted fresh. Although the portion sizes were decent, the vegetables clearly tasted like they had been sitting in storage and the sauces tasted like they were clearly made in a huge batch with no fresh ingredients. Even the cashews in my sauce tasted like they had been sitting and were soggy for a nut. The Mongolian sauce had a very strange taste and after taste to it. The spring roll was also soggy and tasted like it had been previously frozen. Neither of us ate more than Ľ of our meals before we had to give up because they were simply awful. The real kicker of the meal had to be the owner criticizing my boyfriends taste in food after he told him that he did not enjoy the Mongolian stir fry – very unprofessional in my opinion. Would not recommend and will certainly not be going back."

September 2008 — "We were out in Langford after a day of picking Berries and hiking in the Hoghlands....and I was absolutely STARVING! We ended up in the midst of some big box stores looking for a quick bite that wasn't a fast food burger or and overpriced sit-down meal, and quickly found that our options were limited. We had a choice of pizza by the slice or Wok Box, so we thought we'd try Wok Box. I first heard about Wok Box last week when a coworker who lives in Langford mentioned that he had eaten there and thought it was pretty good. Well, when you're hungry, pretty good sounds great...so Wok Box it was. Wok Box is aiming at being a Asian Fusion fast food joint, and boasts Fresh Food. The menu, which was very difficult to read, is a mix of Chinese, Thai, Japanese and even Indian influenced dishes, and alot of the dishes sounded great from their descriptions. Once we got the menu figured out, we decided on a couple of Lunch Boxes, the smallest size of their stir fried dishes at $6.50 a pop. I ordered the Szechuan Pepper Lunch Box, while my wife chose the Singapore Cashew. We sat down in the seating area and waited for our food. The food was definitely not fast, but it did come hot. That's where the positives end. My dish looked and smelled alright, but my noodles, pork and vegetables(which DID taste fresh) were drowned in a sauce that tasted like BBQ sauce mixed with Sweet and Sour. Way too sweet and thoroughly unejoyable. My wife's Shanghai style noodles were also drowned in sauce...her's tasting mostly like molasses with a weird, spicy aftertaste. I can honestly say that this was the worst tasting, asian inspired food I have ever had. We left disappointed with a greasy film covering our tongues, and a bad aftertaste in our mouths. We both wished we'd had the pizza, a fast food burger...or anything else, instead. "
