August 2008 — "After our unsuccessful search for PEI-style lobster dinners, we settled for the Red Roof Restaurant located at 5894 King Street in Riverside-Albert, New Brunswick, half way between Fundy National Park and the Hopewell Rocks. The lights were dim in the front section, the chairs were upside down on the tables, there were no cars in the parking lot but the open sign was pointed in our direction.
I enjoyed an order of scallops and chips which I had been looking forward to all week. My dining partner chose the turkey dinner with mashed potatoes. That dinner was very interesting. The dinner came with two slices of baker’s bread unlike the open faced dinners that I’m familiar with. The gravy was a bright florescent yellow colour, likely due to using a measure of powdered chicken noodle soup, but was delicious. The accompanying cole slaw was awesome good. My Atlantic Canadian dining partner assured me that homemade cole slaw in the east should taste just like that.
We shared a piece of Maple Blondie Bombshell Cake which neither one of us needed.
If you like country music on your radio and privacy in your road-side diner, this is the place. Just don’t get stuck in the tiny bathroom."
