January 2012 — "The Pig BBQ Joint on Blanshard Street is located in a cozy corner of an office building that offers a small pulled pork and beef brisket menu which in this case is not necessarily a bad thing. We heard a lot of good reviews from friends about the Pig and decided to give it a try. The dining area has about ten or twelve tables and then a counter that can seat about six people. It wasn’t busy when we arrived but by the time we left people were waiting for a table. I ordered the single pulled pork sandwich for $6.50 and you don’t get any sides with it, all the sides are extra. My husband ordered the half pound pulled pork dinner that comes with cold slaw and corn bread for $10.50 and when it was ready his dinner was not what either of us was expecting. You get a tray lined with wax paper with the half pound of pulled pork on one side, a ramekin of coleslaw and a small piece of corn bread. The presentation is not great for the price you pay for the dinner. My sandwich was on an over sized hamburger bun with their special pork sauce and a bit of coleslaw. They do offer local beer on tap and organic soda's which is nice to see in any restaurant.
Don’t get me wrong the taste was good but I was expecting an outstanding taste for being the only restaurant known for its pulled pork. We noticed other orders coming out and they seemed similar, the special feature of the day was fried chicken and waffles which looked really good. My husband and I talked about our dinner and we were not overly impressed but still enjoyed our meals, but also would have liked to seen a bit more for the value we paid. If you are craving pork or beef brisket I suggest you try the Pig BBQ Joint.

November 2011 — "I'd been dying to try PIG when I went there. Pulled pork and I have had a love affair for a number of years, and when I hear of a pulled pork festival, it calls to me to come. So, trying The place for pulled pork was exciting.
PIG is a small venue, that's mainly serve yourself, which suits the nature of a BBQ joint quite appropriately. My friend and I ordered our food at the counter, paid, and waited for that "order-up" call. For what the sandwich cost, they certainly did not skimp on contents, this was one packed sandwich. The meat was well cooked, and on a good bun. For my taste, it was too sweet, I like my pulled pork more savoury. However, I could see how the taste would appeal.
The item I would pass on, although it was recommended to me, was the deep friend mac & cheese. It was like cardiac arrest in a cube. It was unappetizing to look at, and not delicious enough to the taste to compensate for that. The beverage selection was also a miss for me.
Overall, it's worth the visit, but I'm going to keep my eyes and nose ready for the next festival."

August 2008 — "Like most Friday evenings, we found ourselves trying to decide whether to cook something, or just run out and grab a quick bite. Like most Friday evenings, we decided on eating out. We were headed down to for a for 5 dollars deal, when I noticed that PIG was open. PIG BBQ Joint is a restaurant that I’ve wanted to try since we moved to Victoria, but their hours were always such that they weren’t open late enough for us to get down there after work most nights. Well, recently they’ve changed their hours, and in addition to catering to downtown lunch crowd, they are now open until 6:30 on Tuesday to Saturday for your supper needs. We decided to forgo the lines at Hernandez and hit up PIG instead. The menu at PIG is REALLY simple. You have a choice of three sandwiches at $5 a pop, and 4 sides at $1.50 each. We both the pulled pork sandwich and shared two sides, the BBQ Baked Beans and the Cornbread with Honey Thyme Butter. Let me tell you, this place is right up my alley! The BBQ Beans were amazing, and the pulled pork sandwiches and cornbread were both top notch…and two of us ate for $13. PIG is a gem of a restaurant…I can’t believe I ignored it for this long. This is what a BBQ shack should be, a tight little hole in the wall with great food at great prices. I’ll be back…often(I’ve got to try the Beef Brisket sandwich next time!). In addition to the regular menu, the offer weekly specials, ribs on Fridays, and BBQ spaghetti on Saturdays. "
