January 2010 — "Coming from Vancouver, the home of great sushi and Japanese in Canada, when I had to be at Lethbridge for a short term contract a good sushi restaurant was high on my list of things to make life bearable. Having been recommended to another restaurant, and having had a disastrous food experience there, I was deflated - until I found Lighthouse. Lighthouse is not great by Vancouver standards, but the fish is fresh, the sushi solidly average and the service acceptable - not unlike the chains in Vancouver, but at 3 times the cost. And they charge for tea! Prices are high for what's on offer - about the same as a fairly upscale sushi bar in Vancouver, but without the same selection or quality. That said, it's the best you'll get at Lethbridge."

December 2008 — "The food at the Lighthouse is a little more expensive than the other sushi restaurant in Lethbridge, but, in my opinion, it tastes much better.
I would have to say that the service could use a little improvement. We made reservations and, due to unforseen circumstances, we didn't need one of the tables that they reserved. They were about it as soon as we arrived, but they still did not use the table. They then wanted to charge each of us extra for the people that didn't arrive. We complained about this and then the owner (I think it was the owner) asked who made the reservation and confronted her as we were leaving. I understand that they may have felt that they lost some business because of a table not being used, but they lost a lot more business because of confrontation. "

May 2008 — "As there are only two sushi restaurants in Lethbridge, we decided we would give the 'Lighthouse' a try after been unable to get a reservation at the other restaurant. They did seem surprised that we had called for a reservation and we had no problem in accommodating our request for a table of 3. I did find the name 'lighthouse' a bit surprising for a Japanese restaurant and upon arriving, noticed the many lighthouse pictures that adorn the walls. It made me think that the restaurant must have changed its cuisine yet kept the décor. Inside the restaurant, there are booths along the wall and tables in the middle and these do convey the Japanese them bar those lighthouse pictures. The restaurant was quiet, yet they seemed a bit disorganized and almost unsure whether to seat us so we started wondering whether we had made a good choice. Added to that, our server then came to take our drinks and advised us we should order quickly as the kitchen was going to close due to it been a slow night, this was Friday night at 8pm on a long weekend. So not the best start but would the food save the day and leave us with a lasting impression? Well, it was good. I had tried my usual of beef teriyaki and it was enjoyable while my dinner companions tried the sushi, sashimi and sunomono and were quite impressed. Overall we did enjoy our meal and will probably give it another try. "
