"Mouth watering Korean food"

July 2011 — "Seoul Korean BBQ always has my mouth watering before entering at the door. I love going there to barbecue meat which you do yourself. If you have a larger group, you can go for the buffet which is only 20 dollars per person. The restaurant also provides you with mini Korean appetizers such as kimchi, radishes and other tasty starters before your main comes. It is also nice to have a little vegetables with your meal. If you love barbecue meat, then this is the place to go. I strongly suggest you do the buffet and cook the meat yourself. There is something about the aroma and the sizzling sound that makes the food even more appetizing. I've also had good service there. Another small tidbit about this place is that they allowed me to bring my own wine for a charge of only three dollars for each person who would be drinking the wine. This is a great deal so we were able to have wonderful Korean food and our own choice of wine from home! "

"Delicious and filling Korean cuisine"

May 2011 — "Korean cuisine has been a popular destination for Calgary diners as evidenced by the Korean restaurants popping up in each quadrant of the city. One of the best in the city is Seoul Korean BBQ located on McLeod Trail just a few blocks away from Chinook Mall. The main reason I prefer this Korean venue above others is the food and the atmosphere. It has one of the largest dining areas for a Korean restaurant I have visited in Calgary so there is rarely a wait. Even at the busiest times such as a weekend evening there is plenty of seating to be had. The food here is also top notch and among the best of the Korean places I've visited in the city. Your food can be cooked right in front of you on each table or back in kitchen if you choose so. The bulgogi and short ribs are both delicious choices and every meal comes with complimentary appetizers such as kimchi and pickled cabbage. My favorite Korean restaurant in Calgary!"

"Tasty, but small portions"

January 2010 — "My friend and I ended up here for Korean BBQ. We were seated quickly and provided with drinks right away. Between to two of us, we ordered 3 dishes. Glass noodles, BBQ short ribs, and BBQ chicken. The dishes were quite pricey, at $15.99 each, I think the glass noodles were actually a little more. Typically, at other Korean restaurants, they provide with side items to start such as bean sprouts, kimchi, etc. to start. Unfortunately, they did not give these to us until our other dishes were available. I was hoping to get it sooner as I was starving. I was disappointed that the portion sizing were smaller than anticipated. The bill came to approximately $55 which was slightly more than I wanted to pay. The food itself was very tasty but I think we will only come when there is lunch special available or when their all-you-can-eat buffet is being served. "

"All you can eat Korean BBQ"

December 2009 — "This has always been on our our favorite Korean BBQ places. It did get a bit pricey if you wanted to try to few more items though. But recently they came out with all you can eat. It worked out to $35 per person including tax and tips which isn't too bad at all. With 4 or more people going, you would really be able to try out everything they offer on the all you can eat list. They were really good and coming around and changing the BBQ pan too unlike some other places that only changes the pan maybe once or twice. This way your food doesn't taste burnt. They even had a small gift for our friend cause we had his birthday dinner there. The only think is you have to remember not to wear or bring anything that you don't want smelling like BBQ after you're done eating there. There's pretty good ventilation, but after dinner, everything you wear and your hair smells like Korean BBQ."

"Deserves another trip"

November 2009 — "Warning: Going out for Korean BBQ means that you will be smelling like what you eat for the next couple of hours. And at Seoul Korean BBQ, that is exactly what happened. I say that I would need to come back because unfortunately, I went when I was trying to fight off a cold and warded off from the BBQ and hot sauce, which is what I think defines Korean food. Good thing I had a bunch of friends to finish off the food. This place was pretty packed for a weekday evening. The menu definitely had a variety of different foods and ones that sounded really good. At the beginning of the meal, you even get the little appetizers or nibbles of different things like potatoes, kimchi, bean sprouts, and pickled radishes. I ordered a soup dish, with noodles and tendons. The soup wasn't bad, but not really what I expected. Usually, the stone pot rice bowl, bipbimbap is sure to be good, and that is what my friend had. It looked very good and colorful and the expressions on my friends faces told me it was yummy. Our table also ordered a BBQ meal, and the waiters were on top of the grill as soon as it seemed like it was overcooking our protein. It definitely would have been more enjoyable if I tried everything, but I'm sure it won't be long until I try this place out again. "

"Another addition to the Korean Eateries"

November 2009 — "Seoul BBQ restaurant has your typical korean dishes you can find at most restaurant along with hotpot combos and bbq combos. The restaurant size is one of the biggest korean places in Calgary. Good for large gatherings! All you can eat hotpot and bbq can be found here for all you big eaters! My dinner here for a party of 3 included Japche ( stir fried korean glass noodles with shredded meats and veggies), Dolsot Bibimbap ( veggies and beef with rice in a hot stone bowl) and an order of BBQ Marinated Beef Ribs which included the typical korean side dishes. This was a good selection to share. Not being an expert korean food eater, I thought the food wasn't bad to my standards. Didn't think it was outstanding or poor compared to other korean places I've eaten at. Prices were comparable. The service here was also better than most korean places in town. The food was served in a timely fashion which is always a bonus! "

"Best Korean BBQ"

November 2009 — "We have never been disappointed by the authentic Korean delicacies at Seoul Korean BBQ Restaurant. Pictures of Korean specialties appear on the menu to help you choose, and the wait staff, all very pleasant, help explain the items. There are wonderful, more traditional Korean items, such as the dumplings, and seafood pancakes. You can enjoy either domestic or imported beers and wines. While it's fun to cook your own BBQ at the table, you can opt to have the kitchen cook for you. This insures that you don't get carried away and accidentally burn your pieces, or undercook any items. If you do choose to do the tabletop cooking, the servers keep an eye on your table in any case. We like to order a selection of BBQ items, pork, beef, beef ribs and seafood. Be sure to check on portion sizes... sometimes what appears to be a side dish is actually a main course item. Definitely worth a visit for a great Korean BBQ dining experience."

"Authentic as it Gets...I think..."

February 2009 — "Went to Seoul to try their barbecue packages, and when it comes to Korean restaurants in Calgary, this place has to be considered one of the best. I went with a group of six people and ordered the dinner package for 8 (we figured we could finish it all.) The amount of food we were presented with was astounding. On top of the standard assortment of appetizers you normally get at a Korean restaurant, (kim chi, soya beans, shredded radish, the list goes on and on.) we also were able to try their oyster omelette, some dumplings and the house soup, not to mention the massive amount of raw seafood, beef and pork we had to barbecue. Our server was excellent, she regularly stopped by our table to make sure our barbecue acumen was up to snuff, and if need be she'd barbecue some stuff for us. All in all, it was a great experience, which was undoubtedly helped by the lively atmosphere the restaurant was in the middle of. Highly recommended."

"If it's good enough for an expatriate..."

July 2008 — "...it's good enough for me. Seriously, one of the the tell tale signs of a good ethnic restaurant, is when you see expats eating at it. Seoul is a perfect example of this. Recommended to me by the owner of a local Korean karaoke bar, my friends and I gave it a shot and were not disappointed. We ordered a set barbecue dinner for four and received mounds of food to cook on the grill installed at our table. Our server prepped our first course of barbecued vegetables and meats for us, and throughout the dinner regularly came by to make sure we were doing alright. Great food, clean decor, decent service. Trust me, it's worth a shot."
