January 2012 — "We recently moved to the South part of Calgary and I kind of feel like I have a whole new world of restaurants to explore. On a Monday night we did not feel like cooking, so headed to the first place we came across... Dixon's Public House. It is near Shawnessy and is owned by the same company that owns other pubs I've been to...Kilkenney,Limricks etc. It happened to be wing night and I couldn't believe it, but they were just 10 cents each. We ordered honey garlic and hot wings, as well as some deep fried pickles. The wings were just ok, but they were definitely edible. The pickles were pretty good, but the mustard dip they came with was a little overpowering. I have had them at a different pub with more of an aioli dip which suited it better. I ended up dipping these pickles in my ranch dip. The service was pretty good despite the pub being busy, and the atmosphere was very pub like. Will probably be back!"

November 2009 — "I met a girlfriend for lunch at Dixon's on a Friday afternoon. The pub was quiet at that time and it was nice to have some good pub food in a quiet atmosphere for a change. The service at Dixon's is consistently good. My friend ordered the veggie burger and I asked our server if she would recommend the shepherd's pie or the beef stew. At her advisement, I ordered the shepherd's pie and I wasn't disappointed. It was very flavourful and rich. It was also HUGE. Much more food than I could ever hope to eat at lunch, but that just meant I had leftovers for dinner! I have eaten at Dixon's a number of times over the years and I really appreciate that I can always rely on having a good meal and good service when I eat there. Traditional pub fare that is consistently good can be hard to find, so I will never hesitate to return to Dixon's."

BulletDescription

This pub may be a fair distance from downtown but it is worth the drive. Enjoy a varied menu from steaks and burgers to prime rib and mussels. Try the mud pie for dessert. After dining, relax with a game of darts or pool.
