"Nice place for a Saturday brunch"

December 2010 — "The Toad and Turtle is a really nice pub in the NE set in a big stone house type building. I have never been there other than for brunch with a couple of friends on a Saturday. They have their full menu available, but also serve breakfast. The prices were reasonable and the food was pretty decent. The breakfast menu is pretty basic but covers most things you could find yourself wanting. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict, which is generally a favorite of mine. It was awesome, except the eggs were overcooked and the yolks were completely hard. That's not something you generally want with eggs benedict! It came with chunk syle hashbrowns which filled the plate. There was definitely plenty of food. The server was really upbeat and friendly and the service was great. I would love to go back and try their lunch or dinner menu and have a few beers. The atmosphere was really comfortable and the prices were very reasonable. "

"Great breakfast!"
December 2010 — "Most people don't think to go to a pub for their breakfast. However, the Toad and Turtle serves up a great brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The menu offers classics like bacon and eggs, eggs benedict and omelettes, but you can also find a few things a bit more out of the ordinary. I ordered the "Edmontonian", which consisted of pan fried perogies, sausage and poached eggs all covered in hollandaise sauce. What a delicious take on breakfast! The service was decent, but the booth by the window was a little bit too cold so in the winter, I would suggest opting for a more central table. At 11am, they even had beer and drink specials going on! The price for breakfast was really good and the entire menu seemed to be that way. Portions were almost too large to finish. All in all, the experience was great and I will definitely be back. "

July 2010 — "This establishment consists of 2 parts: The indoor traditional pub style restaurant, and the outdoor patio upper level place. Being a nice sunny day we choose the outdoor patio, which turned out to be a great choice.
The kitchen does not use a deep fryer for anything and it is all cooked fresh to order. The menu consists of original and exotic items such as wild boar burgers, elk burgers, etc. Another pleasant surprise was the choice of side items, which rather than the typical salad or fries, it offered fruit, edemame beans, fresh veggies and dip, and other fresh items. I highly recommend it to others."

October 2009 — "I visited the Toad N Turtle for a pub dinner one night and overall I was satisfied.
The service was very good, especially considering how busy it was. I ordered chicken wings and some kind of Hawaiian ribs (from the appetizer section). The wings were very good and I would definitely order wings there again. The ribs were not at all what I was expecting. They looked like thin shavings of beef and were very fatty. It reminded me of something I would expect to see in a low-quality Chinese food dish. They didn't have a lot of flavour either. I would certainly not order the ribs again. I told our server that I didn't really care for them and she said they didn't look as good as they usually do. Maybe it was an off night for the ribs, but I wouldn't recommend them.
I will definitely go back to the Toad N Turtle because it's a nice pub environment and I have always been impressed with the service."

January 2009 — "My wife and I hadn't been to the Toad N Turtle for nearly a year, so thought that maybe we should try it out again. I like the ambiance, as it really has a casual neighbourhood pub feel. We arrived around 5pm, and were promptly greeted by our server. We both ordered pints and I chose to dine on the Spolumbo burger with fries. My wife had the "Edmontonian" which consisted of perogies, Spolumbo sausages and bacon and sauerkraut. Both entrees were very delicious... I got to eat most of my wife's because obviously, I'm a pig. Actually I couldn't resist hers because it was so tasty. They served the perogies and sausages with dijon and sour cream and it was pretty good for pub food. My burger was also very good. It was served on an onion bun, which was delicious, and I can't complain about anything.
Overall, this experience was very good. We were in and out very quickly and the service was very good. Even though I felt a little bit queasy afterward, that just comes with eating a lot of pub food very quickly. We'll definitely go back some day."

December 2007 — "I've visited the Toad N Turtle on two occasions and haven't LOVED it, but haven't hated it either. The decor is a typical pub and the service is mediocre. The food is okay, I had the enchilada both times I was there. It's very cheesy and quite good. I also have had the potato skins which were good. My husband got a pizza and he did not like it all, which is unusual for him. I'll probably go back one day because it's close to our house, but it's definitely not my favourite pub."
