December 2011 — "I always knew Bottlescrew Bills was the place to go when you wanted a pint out of the ordinary, but it wasn't until I decided to come here to watch a Flames game did I realize how much fun this pub could be.
The place was already bustling by the time my friends and I arrived, but were still lucky enough to grab a table just before game time. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable with the drink menu, and helped me find just what I was looking for; a great Belgium ale called LaChouffe.
When it came time to order food, for whatever reason the butter chicken seemed oddly appealing. To its credit, it was very well done. Oddly enough it ended up being cheaper than butter chicken dishes I've ordered at some East Indian restaurants.
To top it off during the game, the bar gave out raffle tickets with the winner getting tickets to the Flames next home game. While neither my friends or I won, it was still a great bonus for coming by."

August 2011 — "I went with my girlfriend to Bottlescrew Bill's and we sat on the patio to enjoy the last of the summer sun. Our server was really friendly, and even though the patio was full and she was obviously very busy, she still did a great job of serving us well. They had pints of Trad and Grasshopper on special for $5, so I had a pint of Trad. It was delicious! Everyone around us seemed to be having a really good time which added to the atmosphere of the patio. I had the chicken and brie sandwich with apple on a ciabatta bun. I had it with fries. The sandwich tasted good but I found the chicken breast to be overcooked and dry. That paired with the thick, dry bun made for a hard-to-get-down sandwich. Good thing I had that nice cold beer to wash it down! There was a bum fight across the street which we all got to watch while sitting on the patio. Bottlescrew Bill's is in a rough area of downtown for sure. "

February 2011 — "I must say I was pleasantly surprised that although there were quite a few people in the establishment, the sound of conversation did not carry like it does in some places. They also were handing out tickets for a door prize that included a free Flames Game for two. We sat by the fireplace in big, comfy easy chairs and enjoyed our meals. I ordered Bacon-wrapped Meatloaf and it was really good. In fact, I found myself wishing there would have been more, even though it was a reasonable size. It came with carrots and mashed potatoes and gravy. They have a lot of different beers available. In fact, I believe there are more than eighty! My Honey Brown cost a bit more than six dollars for a pint, and a 60 oz. jug of Molson Canadian was available for about $12.00. The employees were all friendly, and the service was good. The menu was varied and included fish, steaks, Asian food and much more. My companion also enjoyed her food. I would return to try more items."

January 2011 — "Now that I work downtown I'm trying out restaurants I normally wouldn't hit because it's such a pain to park. Bottlescrew Billls (Buzzards I think it use to be called) is a fun little pub with two sides - one has all the loud TV's etc. and the other side has a quieter ambiance with little booths, a few tables and a nice little nook next to a fireplace. We sat in the nook in the big soft chairs...not the easiest place to eat as the table is quite low (probably more to sit and have a drink) but it worked fine for us. The menu offers a nice variety from regular pub fare and soups and salads, to Indian influenced entrees including Chicken Vindaloo and Lamb Korma as well as the more typical found in pubs (steaks, pastas and fish). If you enjoy burgers, there is a great choice with interesting toppings for around $14 and up. My eating partner absolutely loved the food; mine was good but I found it pretty salty...I tried the Coconut Prawn - a creamy Malay curry with prawns, coconut milk, ginger and coriander for $13. I usually love this combination but I found it was a bit watery and the spices weren't very strong with an overriding sensation of salt. I know people who go to BB's just for the burgers so maybe that could be a better bet. I'd go back and try again though - the service was terrific and the space was comfortable and based on comments I heard around me, it seemed most customers were very happy with their meals so maybe this one dish was just not the best one to pick for me. May 2009 — "So we went to Bottlescrews for a friends birthday and to try some of there many many beers. This place has some of the most exotic beers from all over the world. So you want to try a beer from every country this is the place for you. The Tiger beer is so far my favorite. Very light and enjoyable. The beer from New Zealand is not good at all and I advise all to stay away. This beer tasted like it was mixed with shampoo. I had their chicken caesar salad which was very good. It was so big I could barely finish it. My husband had the Sheppard's pie. That too was very good. They have a huge patio which is so nice to sit on when Calgary is having a warm beautiful night. Food is very well priced for the portions that you get. They also have specials frequently. Service was a little slow but they pub was also very busy that night.
Definitely a good pub to visit. "

Management Response:
"Thanks so much, Nicole, for the feedback. We add a couple more beers every month or two, so there's always something new to try. Come on back and say hello!"
