August 2010 — "We were seated close to the door on some very soft cushions around a table. They were comfy but one of them sunk significantly enough that I felt a bit like a little person. I liked the fact that we could taste a number of wines in order to decide what we wanted to order. That was great fun! We ordered a bottle of Three Gardens for $54. We enjoyed the wine a lot. I decided to have the braised lamb shank for $24. It came with saffron rice and grilled jack fruit. It did not disappoint. The servers were attentive and friendly and all things considered, we had a fantastic time. That is until the emergency alarm went off. It was caused by something that happened in the Scotia Centre which is part of the same building. We were lucky we had finished our meal and were about to leave. Even though, it was enough to give anybody a headache. The management gave us a Mango Shiva coupon for $25 as compensation for our discomfort. I am looking forward to returning to this restaurant. "

"Wonderful - except for the fire alarm"

July 2010 — "I love this place. The ambience is lovely and warm, the service is really exceptional and friendly and the food is unsurpassed in my opinion. Too bad the fire alarm went off...and stayed on...for most of my meal. I'm pleased to say that after addressing this with the manager, he gave me a complimentary $25 appetizer coupon. Apparently the fire alarm is hooked up to the Scotia Centre and if there's a problem in the Centre, the alarm rings everywhere, including the restaurant. It just never shut off...anyhow, about the food.
I started with the tempura Calamari in coconut curry for $11 - it was DELICIOUS; hands down the best calamari I've every had. For the main meal, I had the vegetable crunch, made up of wild mushrooms, baby corn, snow peas and asparagus ($18). For the amount it seemed a titch pricey, but the flavors were wonderful and made up for the extra change.
I had a nice glass of Kris Pinot Noir with my meal, a light little wine that goes well with veggies. Check this place out if you haven't already done so - just hope that horrible alarm doesn't go off while you are there."

The fabulous background music allowed our party to enjoy conversation over the exquisitely prepared and presented meal. Each dish had its own distinct favour and presentation and the servings were ample. Fabulous food, great atmosphere, good friends, and of course, the wonderful service made the evening something that leaves me wanting to experience again real soon. "

October 2008 — "After relocating, Mango Shiva has undergone a number of changes, apparently aiming for a more upscale dining experience. They have pared down their menu from a mix and match kind of scenario to some very enticing specialized dishes. Lucky for me, they kept my favourite dish of all time; their roasted eggplant. Divine.
The decor is exquisite, right down to the wallpaper in the bathroom. The lights are dim, the smells from the open kitchen send you salivating the moment you walk in the door. The attention to detail in the overall design of the restaurant and its menu is quite incredible. If you want to make an impression on somebody, bring them here.
The whole experience of Mango Shiva is pure decadence."

January 2007 — "Mango Shiva was an experience to remember. I can't stop talking about the wonderful food and great atmosphere. The pakora appetizer had me smiling from the first bite to the last. I couldn't wait for my main course. I was delighted to see lamb on the menu, which is always a treat. I was able to mix my choice of meat with my choice of curry, so I had the pleasure of eating the flavours that I would most enjoy. I would recommend the New Zealand Pinot Noir that they had on the menu, it rounded the meal off well. The food was so rich and flavourful and the modern Indian music in the backgroud just added to the romantic/playful atmosphere. I wouldn't hesitate to go back there again. I'll definitely say that I've never enjoyed food so much that I felt I needed to write about it. And after such great service and for letting us sit there for 4 hours, I wish I could go back and give my server a bigger tip. Cheers!"

August 2006 — "Mango Shiva offers a fantastic lunch buffet from Monday through Friday that includes coconut rice, butter chicken, fresh naan bread, salads, curries and much more. I am always satisfied with the wonderful flavours of the dishes. The mango lassies are also to die for. The buffet is $16.95 before 1pm and $13.95 after 1pm. "

July 2006 — "Mango Shiva's lunch buffet (which is only $10.95 after 1 pm) is one of the finer Indian buffets you will find in the city. The buffet is fresh and well-stocked and offers a wealth of variety. The real beauty of this place is the ambience, which is second to none amongst Calgary's Indian restaurants. Contemporary Indian music oftens sets the tone and the soft lighting and interesting art on the walls really pulls it all together. I have only been there once for the dinner menu, but the buffet is so impressive I need to give their full menu a sampling. Great place for a group lunch. "
