April 2010 — "My co-workers and me headed to Samosa Grill for lunch one day. They had been there before and had said the lunch buffet there was excellent. When we got there, we were seated immediately and drinks brought out shortly thereafter. We all headed out to the tables and loaded up. I love butter chicken and naan bread the most. The butter chicken was quite good. It's not what I'm typically used to, which doesn't necessarily make it bad, just different. I think my favorite was the potato dish that they had. I don't know what it was exactly but it was moist and filling. As for the naan bread, I like mine a little fluffier but it was pretty good nonetheless. I was happy to see that the dishes were refilled often and our server came by and checked in on us. For the 3 of us, with drinks, it came to $55 before tax. I guess that's a fair price. I've had better East Indian food but I'm sure this may be a default restaurant for us. "

"High Expectations let Down"

March 2010 — "I have previously been to Samosa Grill in the past, though never had an issue with the food, actually found it really good. Though Customer Service was lacking a bit. It was a great setting and environment. Just the other day, I went with my wife, as usual the food was good. We were seated at a dirty table, with dirty utensils. The waiter was inattentive and rude. we had to request for our table to be cleaned and utensils to be replaced. We moved along to the buffet. Like always, we started with rice and butter chicken. It was great, until we noticed a strand of black hair on top of a piece of chicken. Quickly we notified the waiter thinking he might want to replace the butter chicken, for the enjoyment of the rest of the customers (since it was ruined for us). To our amazement not only did he not replace the butter chicken, but blamed it on another customer. To sum it up, although you may find the food incredible, the service that comes with the price doesn't add up. "

"The Best Indian/ African restaurant in Calgary"

January 2009 — "I just moved to Calgary about a month ago. I like East Indian cuisine so I started by trying the restaurants down town with my husband. They were not impressive and nothing really stood out to me. They were exactly what you would expect from a common restaurant. On recommendation from my co-worker I tried SAMOSA GRILL at 3393 26th Avenue N.E. At first from the outside you do not know what you were going to get, but as you climb the stairs from the bottom to the dinning area, you find yourself surrounded by a lot of beautiful African and Indian art, as well as countless plants. This gives off a very homey feeling. No matter what ethnicity you are, they make you feel right at home. You find the traditional Indian dishes as well as some interesting African dishes. The butter chicken and chilly chicken were exquisite, along with the best naan I ever had. My husband and I were in heaven. We had definitely hit the jackpot. My husband and I recommend Samosa Grill to all who want an authentic taste of Indian and African cuisine. "

"dinner buffet was disappointing"

September 2008 — "First off, Calgary has a sad, sad lack of Indian dinner buffets!! We went to Samosa Grill because it was the only buffet we could find on a Sunday night. As a vegetarian, I was disappointed to see not a single paneer dish on offer. The korma was ok, but bland. The aloo muttar was VERY watered down, as was the dhal (which was the tastiest item). A mixed veg dish was ok, but nothing special. The pakoras were cold. My non-vegetarian dinner date found the meat dishes pretty forgettable, and said the butter chicken didn't seem to have much chicken in it at all. The rice, fresh naan, and veggie samosas were decent. The server was friendly. But for $17.50/person, we wouldn't go back. "

July 2007 — "This restaurant has one of the best buffets that we have ever experienced. The food was fresh and flavourful, and the presentation was extremely appealing."

November 2006 — "We sent a vindalo chicken back as it tasted like butter chicken and they added spice, the cook argued and told us we did not know what we were talking about “”WOW”” use to eat their at least 2's a month. The food went downhill and so did the service. I’m not kidding when I say you get leftover from the buffet the day before. "

"Buffet Extraordinaire"

August 2005 — "I have visited the Samosa Grill on many occasions over the past years and I have always been very pleased with the quality of food and service. The Sunday buffet became an almost weekly ritual with all its glorious temptations. Each weekend the selection varies, aside from a few staples, like butter chicken. The always fresh naan bread is abundant and definitely amongst the best in town. I never actually ordered off the menu because the buffet was sooo good and reasonably priced that I saw no need to. A photo albums with famous diners can be viewed at the entrance of the restaurant and includes many local high profile Calgary residents. An airy atmosphere with large windows that let in the sunlight help in creating a very pleasant dining environment and the service is always very friendly. The only down side is the location."
