July 2011 — "Loco Lou's is a really fun place to go where you can be guaranteed to find a young crowd. Because it is located right across the street from SAIT, most of the patrons are students. They have great daily food and drink specials and their patio is one of the best in the area! It's way up high and right in the sun. There are also umbrella's for those that can't handle the heat of summer. I went on a Friday for lunch with my boyfriend, and beef dip's were on special for just over $7, as well as huge schooners of domestic beer! Both were amazing! I am a bit of a beef dip connoisseur, and can honestly say this was one of the best in the city! The service is not great which is something I have noticed on every visit. But if you aren't in a hurry and enjoy a fun atmosphere with great prices, this is the place for you! "

"Too long of a wait! "

June 2011 — "We were headed out to see a concert at the Jubilee and thought it would be a great idea to go right across the street on 16th ave to Loco Lou's bar and grill.
I cant really say I was impressed much with the situation we found there. We were just dropping in for a beer before the show on a hot day and we couldn't even get out onto the patio which was our first choice. After that fact, we found ourselves wandering trying to find a table inside.
After we seated ourselves it was probably another 25 minutes before anyone even came to talk to us and ask us what we wanted to drink. My sister at one point did go over to the bar to ask the bartender for beers and that she would just pay right there as we were in a hurry. He was quite rude to her. I felt bad for the servers as it was quite busy, it must be a grand place when it isn't so packed like that but we didn't find what we were looking for. When our server finally paid us some notice, she wasn't apologetic for anything. I would not go back to Loco Lou's again as I don't really like how busy it is, the service or the atmosphere.

August 2009 — "Loco Lou's is a crazy little spot on a crazy little road with a sensible little patio facing the Trans-Canada Highway (or 16th Ave). I've been here a few times, but the big draw for me is that patio which is actually quite large and a great place to sip beer on a hot summer day.
Trying to wrack my brain for a decent place to take a friend from out of town to, I came up with Loco Lou's. I impressed myself, because on this day they were actually better than average. Which says a lot. I ordered the meatzilla pizza (or something named like that, with beef, pepperoni and chicken) and my friend had a bacon-cheddar "Fat Boy" burger that he reported was as good as it could be. We even tried those fancy-boy Bud Limes to wash the meat down with....it was a nice sunny day, after all.
Anyway, the service was mediocre and the food was actually quite delicious. Not sure if that had to do with the hangovers we both had or not. The price was somewhat reasonable, too ($10 for the burger with fries, $12 for the pizza). This place is essentially one of those what you see is what you get joints: not particularly clean or appealing, but a decent meal at a decent price. And that patio is worth watching on summer afternoons....."

"Nice Pub, But EMPTY!"

July 2009 — "I had no idea that Loco Lou's across from SAIT had a sister pub in the South... My wife and I were driving aimlessly down Macleod on a Friday night looking for a place to eat some pub food. We happened to notice Loco Lou's in a strip mall and couldn't believe our eyes. We walked into the pub and it is actually really nice in there and quite large... tons of tables, tons of TVs, just no patio. It was a steaming hot night and I could see why some people might want a patio, but I couldn't believe how dead it was in there. There were honestly about 7 people in a pub that could hold several hundred....
Anyhow, this is the kind of atmosphere I was actually looking for that night, so we found a nice booth near the back of the pub and ordered some beers and some food. The menu seems to be about the same as the North location. We started with some hot wings, which were decent. Then I got the Philly Cheese Steak with fries. When it arrived it was more like a steak sandwich, hardly any cheese or fried onions and peppers. It tasted pretty good though. My wife had the Buffalo chicken fingers but then realized the hot wings and the buffalo chicken fingers were basically the same thing! The poutine she had with it was tasty though, I tried it. I think that I'll stick to the North location for now, since they have a huge patio, but it is a nice pub in the south and the server was pretty good too."

July 2009 — "I can't imagine anything better to do on a hot summer day than to sit on a patio drinking an ice cold beer. That must be why Loco Lous is such a popular spot.
We stopped in recently to beat the heat and enjoy lunch and a cold beer on the patio. They have a good selection of wraps, burgers, wings, pizzas and other pub fare on the menu. All are reasonably priced too.
I settled for their chicken wrap and salad which hit the hunger spot nicely. My friends ordered burgers and they enjoyed them as well. They looked thick and juicy and not the usual dried out frozen patties brought to life. The place was quite busy but the food and our drinks were delivered in record time.
This pub is located on busy 16th Ave right near SAIT and I'm sure is a busy spot any time of the day. The food is good, the service is quick and the drinks are cold."

June 2009 — "I hadn't been to Loco Lou's for about 7 years and thought that we should check it out again as it has a huge patio. We went for lunch on a Saturday and there was a good choice of places to sit on the patio. I wanted shade, my wife wanted sun, and we were easily accommodated.
The menu is filled with everything you'd want at a pub; appetizers, sandwiches, burgers and bigger meals. I chose the bacon cheddar burger with poutine, while my had the Rancher's wrap with chili cheese fries. Both meals were quite good and the poutine was awesome!!
I had a couple of Keith's on tap and they were just $5 a pint, which was a good deal. The service throughout was very good, she was constantly checking on us and there was definitely nothing to complain about. I will probably be back to Loco Lou's, and might not wait 7 years this time!"

April 2008 — "Like any other restaurant with a wacky name, there's simply not that much to rave about when it comes to Loco Lou's.
SAIT Polytechnic's unofficial student hangout, the food at this restaurant is passable. I Tried out their cheeseburger, and as to be expected, it was no better or worse than anything else I've ever eaten.
In terms of service, our server was amiable, and had no problem keeping my friends and I happy. No complaints here.
In the end, the only reason I ever came here was because I was taking a class across the street. My guess is, that's probably status-quo at Loco Lou's."
