April 2011 — "Sole Korea Restaurant is more of a karaoke bar than a dining experience. Most people would never stumble on to a place like this because it is located in the basement of an alley behind 8th Ave SW, downstairs of Opus nightclub. It is a popular hangout for young Asians in the city who enjoy karaoke. The description can make it sound like a rundown place but it has recently undergone a complete interior decoration and is actually quite nice. It can also be quite loud on weekend evenings when hoards of university students are here having drinks and singing karaoke. It's not really a place most people would consider for a quiet evening dinner. Although there is a menu complete with all the usual items you'd find at any Korean restaurant and also has quite delicious wings. The prices were a bit steep for a basement karaoke bar but the food is actually quite good. "

October 2009 — "Here's why I love this place:
1) The only entrance to it is through a backdoor in an alley.
2) It's so specifically Korean, you'd swear upon walking in you were in a different country.
3) They have a tiny Maltese that hangs out at the front of the bar.
Came here after a long hiatus the other day with some friends to enjoy a jug of lychee Soju and a plate of spicy squid and noodles. The place was busy, but it didn't stop the owner from greeting us at the door, and setting up a table for us, as all the booths were taken.
The aforementioned Soju, was refreshing as usual. The spicy squid was not as great as it usually is, mainly because there was very little squid in the dish.
If I have a problem with this place, it's that they still charge way too much for everything. The Soju itself was 21 bucks!
Still, Sole is an experience more than anything. Check it out."

January 2008 — "This is the only place I know that serves rice cakes on a regular menu. Not only that but they also sell a well prepared, super spicy Ichiban hot-plate. It may sound weird, but boy is it good.
Not only that but enjoying this late night meal is only heightened by the Korean karaoke being sung at the front of the bar.
Furthermore, because the place is so small, the service is able to keep up to your needs fairly well.
If there's one problem at Sole, it's the price. The Ichiban hot-plate goes for around 15 bucks, which is an insane mark-up..."
