May 2011 — "After a nice hike, we decided to go to this perfectly situated pub and grill for some mountain fresh food and beer while the Three Sisters stared at us on the patio. I couldn't help but to try the locally brewed Maple Cream Ale which surprisingly didn't have a maple flavour but was more like a honey ale. Nonetheless it taste great for $6.90. I ordered the Kobe Oscar Burger which was one of the most memorable burgers I have ever eaten. It's made with kobe beef, and topped with a lobster/crab creamy mixture, provolone cheese, tarragon mayo, and tomatoes. Who knew ground beef and seafood could marry so perfectly?? It was $16.50 but worth every penny. I chose the sweet potato fries to accompany it and they were nice and crispy meaning they know enough to put some starch on the fries before deep frying them. The bathrooms were a little far away and down in the basement but it almost seemed it was meant to be a journey because there was a glass enclosed wine room to check out, lounge chairs, and super nice bathrooms to boot. The view of the mountains and the food are reason enough to spend an afternoon there. "

October 2009 — "The Iron Goat offers casual mountain dinning. The fireplace was roaring, it was busy but not loud, and the mountain view was clear. The staff were friendly and very accommodating to our needs. The drink order was taken a few minutes after we got settled and arrived quickly. My friend really enjoyed her Caesar. The entire table of four ate off the a la cart menu and everyone agreed the food was good. The main dish was really big with an impressive variety of vegetables-potatoes, squash and carrots. Dessert was also a classic and very tasty. If in Canmore I would go back. "

More than just a pub, the Iron Goat serves fine Canadian cuisine and touts a patio with enviable mountain views. The seasonally changing menu takes advantage of regional ingredients and features a staple of soups and salads, homemade burgers, bison ribs, fire-grilled AAA Alberta steaks, seafood, house-made pizza and pasta. The interior is inspired by Canmore's railway heritage. Open 11am to 11pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 11pm on Sunday (Sunday brunch is served from 9am to 1pm).
