March 2011 — "I had eaten at the Vietnam Fortune Restaurant before, but it had been a long time. Walking up to the entrance, I was struck by how unpretentious, even plain, the building looked. As blinds covered the windows there were no clues to what lay within until one actually entered. Glancing around, I saw a simply decorated, well-lit, welcoming room. I decided to have the Chicken Coconut Curry Soup. I love Vietnamese soup and this one was no exception. It featured big chunks of tasty chicken and a healthy mix of vegetables and of course, lots of noodles. It was just spicy enough to gently give my sinuses a bit of a cleansing. I always feel like I am doing my body good when I eat Vietnamese soup. Hydrating and filling at the same time. My soup cost about $10, which was true for the majority of menu items. Some dishes cost closer to $15. Check this place out. It deserves its good reputation."

February 2011 — "Vietnam Fortune is a dependable restaurant for its food and offers the standard Vietnamese dishes for reasonable prices. The appetizers range from around $6 and up and include veggie salad rolls (which some of the restaurants do not offer). They also make excellent Vietnamese subs ($6.25 no matter which sub you choose); soups ($8.50 – 10.25 – huge bowls); vermicelli ($8.75 – 12.00), hot pots and plates ($13.50-14.00); and some nice desserts ($4.50-5.50) if you like banana and coconut. I tried the Coconut Curry Chicken with Vermicelli soup (Sup Bun Cari Ga) for $9.25, a very spicy soup with an interesting mixture of curry with coconut. It was very tasty with just enough coconut to know it was there without being overpowering. The bowl is huge and I could barely finish my dinner. As it seems with many of the Vietnamese restaurants in Calgary, the ambience is a bit barren and the interior looks a little worn. Our server was great and was quick and attentive. The food is definitely worth the visit! "

September 2009 — "I went there and tried a smattering of dishes. The salad rolls were good, they also had an appetizer of 3 skewers of shrimp, chicken and beef that was pretty decent. They were good except the chicken skewer was more like a chicken fillet on a stick and was difficult to eat or share. We also had a vegetarian noodle dish which was atrociously bad. The noodles were absolutely flavorless and the tofu was the consistency of a limp wet sponge."
