May 2010 — "I stayed at the Rock Creek a few years ago when visiting family in Montana but didn’t try the restaurant there, Old Piney Dell. So, when we were invited to go along on Mothers’ Day for the Sunday brunch it seemed like a great idea. The place was pretty busy when we arrived and there were a good few people waiting for tables but we were seated fairly quickly (we had pre-booked). We ordered a bottle of the house red from our corner cozy table and then waited to be invited to go to the buffet. I, for whatever reason, was trying to do a vegetarian-eating thing and this was quite a challenge. I was able to have salad, which had a fruit red dressing that was delicious with it, potato, and some stir fry that had peppers, onions and sausage in it (I took the sausage out) and a bread roll. I have to admit I did sneak a couple of pieces of bacon but I resisted the prime rib, which I heard was very good. Dessert was individual tiramisu, which was actually pretty good too. We were not really offered the opportunity to enjoy coffee and were simply brought the bill. Although I enjoyed the food, I don’t think I will be rushing back to this place."

Rustic furnishings decorate the Old Piney Dell and the intimate restaurant still encompasses the 1920s homesteader cabin from which it evolved. Part of the Red Creek Resort just outside of Red Lodge, the restaurant is open for dinner and a regular Sunday brunch, which features prime rib and eggs benedict.
