April 2010 — "This spot has a great idea; what could be faster and easier to prep than tacos? And who doesn't love Mexican food? Throw in a fresh salsa bar and you have a winner. I had the veggie tacos, and they were just OK on their own. I admit, I have never had a taco with broccoli and carrot before, so that was a cool treat, it's just that they weren't exactly a powerhouse of flavour on their own. I was grateful for the salsa bar, because without the corn salsa to fill up my tacos, it might have been a little plain, and this review may not be as favourable. All told, though, it was pretty good. My husband had chorizo tacos and asked for the combo, but their deep fryer wasn't working, so they couldn't include the mexifries. They should have at least given us some chips on the side, because they still charged for the combo, and that was not cheap."

November 2009 — "Just recently we were in downtown Victoria looking for something to have for dinner (take-out) something that our daughter would also enjoy. We came across La Fiesta Cafe, authentic Mexican food. We were hesitant at first, because we were not sure if the food was appropriate for young children. Turns out, that they have a great kids option, where they cook a cheese quesidilla and serve it with mexican rice, and a juice box. It was perfect. We ordered the enchiladas and the fajita platter. They were very delicious. We took them home and it tasted like we were in Mexico. The Staff were very helpful, and courteous. It took a little bit of time to get our food, because they cook everything from scratch, fresh. and that was okay with us. It gave us time to sample different Salsa's that they had in the fresh salsa bar. There are small cups with lids that yo can fill up with different types of salsa to try. Everything from super spicy Habenaro to mild Fresh corn salsa. I wish that I could make Salsa like that. It is not Cheap, about $30 for our dinner, but certainly worth the money. we will go again!"

"Quality Authentic Mexican"

November 2009 — "This is a great mexican cafe located in the heart of downtown Victoria, corner of Douglas and Broughton. It is smoking busy at lunch, which is always a good sign, and makes very authentic mexican fare. My last visit was to-go where I ordered a fajita platter and my wife had enchiladas. Another good sign is that the food is not ready immediately, it took 10 or more minutes to make it and we were one of two orders. This to me means that the meal is made fresh and tasted like it. They also have a fresh salsa bar of sauces that they make in house, with little cups that you can pick and choose from. As a spice lover this was great, with a mild, chipotle, habenero and corn salsa to choose from. Wheter you are going to grab a quick bite at lunch, stay and eat or take a dinner home, this is a place worth trying!"

"Burrito Grande!"

September 2007 — "It was my Birthday, so I got to decide which restaurant to eat at. Instead of picking something upscale and expensive, I went a little more low-brow and chose La Fiesta, the taco stand that is home to the biggest burritos in Victoria. My wife and I found parking downtown and hit La Fiesta at the tail end of their dinner rush, at about 6PM. The restaurant only seats about 12 to 15 people, and they seem to do a brisk business, so we were lucky to get a seat. I ordered the Chorizo Burrito and my wife opted for the chicken burrito, and I hit the Salsa bar to make sure I got the last of the dwindling supply of Corn Salsa. At first, $9 seemed a little pricey for a burrito, but rest assured, La Fiesta’s burritos are a meal unto themselves. Coupled with tortilla chips and 5 different kinds of fresh salsa at the salsa bar, I doubt anybody leaves still hungry. The Chorizo burrito was absolutely delicious. Big chunks of spicy sausage with rice and at least a couple kinds of beans, chick peas, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and guacamole. Messy, but really tasty. My wife could only finish a little more than half of hers, so I also got to taste the Chicken Burrito. Though it wasn’t quite as good as the Chorizo, the chicken was also pretty good. Large portions, fresh ingredients and great tasting food. What more can you ask for? They also offer a range of other menu items from tacos, fajitas, enchiladas and a variety of wraps. Everything sounds good, but I know I’ll be back for the burritos. La Fiesta Café 12G -1001 Douglas St"

"Biggest Burritos in Victoria!"

September 2007 — "La Fiesta claims to have gigantic burritos. They’re not kidding! I recently went there with my husband and we both ordered their famous burritos. I couldn’t believe how huge they were! I’m not even sure I made it halfway through it because I couldn’t resist their delicious tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa was very fresh and tasty. The burrito was really good too. I had the chicken burrito and it came with salsa, refried beans, lettuce, tomato, cheese, guacamole and yummy rice which included chick peas. It was absolutely delicious. The burritos seemed a bit pricey at about $9 each but they were huge and included many ingredients so I think it was worth it. There’s not much seating though, so I would be aware of that and it’s not the type of place you make reservations at. In the summer they have some extra seats outside, but when it’s cooler those seats aren’t available. I would say there’s only enough room in there for about 15 people total, so be prepared to take it to go. The service was very friendly and they were really fast considering how busy they were. I will definitely be back - I can’t wait to try something else on their menu."
