August 2007 — "“Home of the Two Buck Taco” - This is a great place to go for a cheap meal. You can’t get much cheaper than $2 for a taco. Granted, they’re not very big, but it’s still a great deal. I tried a beef taco ($2) and chips and salsa ($1.50). The taco was pretty standard – beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese, but it was tasty enough. The chips were disappointing – the kind you can find at any supermarket, but the salsa was really delicious. I don’t think they gave enough salsa, but how much can you expect for $1.50? Toonie Tacos is located in the basement of a building in Fernwood, so I don’t think they’re wheelchair accessible. There was only one place to sit in the restaurant, so we ate our food on a bench outside, which was nice, but if it was raining it wouldn’t be so great. Overall it was a good, cheap dining experience. I’ll definitely go again – maybe next time I’ll go during Fernwood’s Tuesday market since they’re only a few feet apart from each other. It’s worth mentioning that the guy working behind the counter was really, really nice. Great service, great price, great location!"
