March 2009 — "My husband and I ate at Sandro's for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. The food was authentically italian and the owners provided very friendly and efficient service. We made a reservation for two of us on a Wednesday night and it was a good thing we did, as they only had one opening available. So, we recommend calling ahead to reserve a table. We noticed that many of the patrons new each other and it appears (through eavesdropping on their conversations) many of them have been coming to Sandro's for years. We would definitely return. Don't be scared away from the outside appearance, as it leaves much to be desired, but the inside is cozy and inviting."

August 2007 — "Wow! I just had dinner at Sandro's last night and was so impressed! A tasty meal, generous portions, friendly service and a really reasonable price. No wonder the restaurant was booked solid all evening on a regular Tuesday. And since this restaurant is located in the heart of a NE industrial zone, all those people were not here by accident.
The food is really the draw here. I am no expert in Italian cuisine, but the table of 12 speaking Italian nearby seemed very happy, so I will assume that it is authentic. We ordered calamari in garlicy tomato sauce and bruschetta to start. The bruschetta was mediocre, but it was really the only thing that was and the calamari more than made up for that. For mains, I had chicken in a mushroom brandy cream sauce and my husband had the veal topped with scallops and shrimp and then baked with cheese on top. Both of our meals came with a side of the daily pasta, which was rigatoni in tomato sauce. It was a lot of food and really, we should have stopped then, but everything was so tasty we had to go for dessert too. The creme caramel was great, but the tiramisu was exceptional. I have never tasted such fluffy, creamy, booze-y good dessert!
And of course, pasta is just not complete without red wine, so we had a 1/2 litre of the house merlot. We had mentioned to our server that we were celebrating a special occasion, so she brought over two complimentary flaming sambucca drinks towards the end of the meal, which was very thoughtful.
Our entire meal came to $83 + tip, which is unbeatable value. And we were so full!
As we were leaving, we noticed a couple of people eating monster-sized seafood pasta dishes that looked amazing. Their thin crust pizzas with toppings like pancetta and capicollo looked delicious too. We will definitely be returning!
