December 2008 — "We are indian and were looking for a good indian restaurant as we just moved to calgary. After being disappointed with many we found the right place in Surya. Service was great through slow and the food was fantastic. Best lamb in town and superb pakora sampler plate. Overall great food."

October 2008 — "We always order takeout food from Surya. The portions are very generous. There is a 10% discount if you order more than $30 worth. So we order a handful of dishes and eat them for several days. The dishes are very nice, definitely some of the best Indian food that I've had in Calgary."

February 2008 — "I love Indian food... curries with puffy naan bread... mmmmmm. Needing something hot in our bellies to stave off the winter chills, we decided to try Surya. The cozy restaurant is warm and comfy--like grandma's place (without the doilies). A simple, understated decor perhaps reflecting the 80s, allows full focus on the food :). Our lamb and beef curries came in traditional Indian-style dishes and tasted delicious. The naan bread was perfect--fluffy and soft. The menu is quite extensive and full of authentic favourites. The service is great; staff are helpful, friendly and only there when you need them. With music from India playing softly in the background, hot, tasty food, and warm, cozy surroundings, this place is great for a winter feed."

September 2007 — "Surya is quickly becoming one of my favourite restaurants. I have been there a few times and every time I am pleased with my meal (I am usually stuffed!) and the great service. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The butter chicken is delicious and although the dishes look small they are surprisingly filling. The buffet is definitely worth the trip and if you can't make it their take-out is awesome as well."
