April 2012 — "I've had good experiences at Boston Pizza and bad experiences, but most are just average. This visit to the Shawnessy location was one of those average ones. We sat in the lounge and watched the game. I wasn't overly hungry, but I decided to get a personal sized pepperoni pizza, and we started with some hot wings. The wings were nothing too exciting, but they were edible. The pizza was delicious. I think sticking with pizza at Boston Pizza is a pretty good idea. The weird thing about this location is that if you need to go to the washroom, you have to go upstairs to a dark closed-off area which was a bit odd. Definitely not wheel chair friendly, unless they have an accessible bathroom in the restaurant. The service was not bad, not great... it truly was just another typical visit to a Boston Pizza location. I'm not sure I will be back with the many other choices in the area."

"Great Pizza"

February 2012 — "My boyfriend and I were out running some errands one day when we realized we needed to eat. Boston Pizza was nearby on 32nd Avenue so we decided to stop in there for a bite to eat. We took a seat in the lounge and a server came promptly to take our drink order. We each ordered a pint of beer and spent a long time looking over the menu. I always find the menu at BP’s to be overwhelming. I don’t know why it needs to be quite so big. It’s good to offer a selection, particularly when you are catering to both families and sports bar type patrons, however it doesn’t need to be quite so extensive. We settled on pizza and ordered half-and-half spicy perogy and rustic Italian. I have always been a fan of their spicy perogy pizza, but was surprised to find that I kind of preferred the rustic Italian. The pizza was excellent, consistent with what I have come to expect of BP’s pizza. The service was good and the lounge and bathroom were both very clean. I would definitely go back."

January 2012 — "I had an impromptu business meeting here early last week. We stopped in around noon and although it was busy, we were seated in the lounge right away. It was a great treat to sit in the lounge as I am usually with my family...I love watching sports...and the big screens gave me a good excuse to kick back and soak up some sports! I ordered my usual the Boston Brute with fries and a diet coke. The Brute and fries came out nice and hot just how I like it and my drink was kept topped up the entire time. My dining partner ordered the beef dip and fries with a water. He had no complaints about his dish either and even his water was always topped up! The service was excellent at this location. If you are in the area I would most defiantly check them out...it is well worth the visit. "

"New location at Chinook = Good!"

January 2012 — "We were shopping at Chinook Centre last week and got stuck there for dinner. Wanting to avoid the food court we decided to check out the new Boston Pizza there. The restaurant is of course nice because it is brand spanking new. We were seated and had our drinks ordered so quickly it was impressive. We all ordered our usual stand-bys. My father-in-law and I the Boston Brute and fries, my wife the steak sandwich with salad, mother-in-law the quesadilla and fries, and the mini french onion soup and pizza bread. Every single one of us was happy with our meal. How many times can 5 people go into a restaurant and say that? The food was outstanding... The service was excellent from start to finish...the server even gave her a dessert treat even though she didn't order a "kids meal" Bravo Boston Pizza....I will defiantly be returning to this location every chance that I get. "Go just for pizza!"

July 2011 — "Boston Pizza is definitely famous for their pizza! With such a great assortment, you can try a different one every time. I always go for an individual pizza and try to taste the different flavors each time. There have been the odd couple of times that I've gone and ordered a quesadilla and a beef dip but I always regret not getting a pizza (natural born pizza lover!). Service was good and I love that Boston Pizza is such a relaxing atmosphere you can take your friends and catch up! Prices are reasonable too. Some of their other dishes are a little salty as well. Their rice bowls are not super but I really just love the pizza there. I do try to avoid their slushy drinks though as I've had most of them and they are very very sweet for my taste. Enjoy your pizza at Boston Pizza! If you haven't been, it's worth the visit!"

"Seating arrangement a little disorganized."

May 2011 — "I visited the Boston Pizza on Country Hills location on a Friday night of the May long weekend. The restaurant was fairly busy with teenagers and young adults. The hostess was not very organized at the front. She was not present in the front for at least five minutes. We waited for parties before us to get organized and seated before she noticed our presence. There were 3 servers on duty at the time of our visit. Our server delivered acceptable customer service. She did not have a wonderful smile nor a positive attitude. However, she accommodated to our requests except for one. I had ordered a spinach salad and substituted the bacon with green peppers but the salad was served with the bacon left in and cheddar was taken out. Food quality at Boston Pizza has never failed us. We enjoyed fresh salad ingredients and good pasta mixes. The pasta portion is always big and left us full every time we visit. We always end up packing a little of something home. The food service was reasonably fast. Our server delayed the time to present the cheque to us and also delayed the transaction time."

"Good Service, Bad Food"

May 2011 — "When we were looking for somewhere to eat near Huntington Hills one night, we came across Boston Pizza in Beddington. I eat at Boston Pizza quite often, but I find that it really does matter what location you go to. I've had good experiences and BAD experiences, and unfortunately, this visit was bad. I wanted to sit in the dining room so we got a table along the window, which was quite nice. The service was excellent. We were greeted right away and our drink orders were taken. We chose to start with the hot wings, done the fried way. They were decent enough, but a bit soggy. It was the main courses that were most disappointing. I guess I should have stuck with pizza like I usually do, but for some reason on this visit we both chose pasta. I got one that sounded absolutely delicious and was new to the menu, the Chipotle Bacon Penne, which was a baked pasta with mushrooms and other veggies in it. When it arrived it was a gooey cheesy tasteless mess. I ate half and did not want to take the rest home. For a $15.49 pasta, it was huge, but it was absolutely disgusting. I'm a big eater and for me to leave something on my plate is rare. Avoid this dish at all costs. My wife got the Fettuccine Jambalaya, which was supposed to be spicy, but when hers arrived she said it was also very, very bland. She had it baked, so it cost $17.88 and she could barely choke it down. She did take hers home though and added a ton of spices to it, and said it was somewhat edible after doing that. I suppose I should have told the server how disgusting our meals were, but by this point we had lost our appetites and did not want anything else from that kitchen. If it wasn't for the great service, the experience would have been brutal. Won't be back to this location for sure."

"Crowfoot Location"

May 2011 — "Over the years, I have eaten at a large number of Boston Pizza Restaurants and tried a huge number of different pizzas and pastas that they have to offer. It has been surprising that their meals are less consistent than one might think. I am pleased to say that the Crowfoot location was a very pleasant experience. Right from the beginning things were going our way as the server was both friendly and had a sense of humour. Then to top it off, the pizza was delicious! I ordered the Meteor, meat lovers pizza and it did not disappoint. Pepperoni, ham, ground beef, spicy Italian sausage and cheese. It was spiced perfectly and I loved every bite. And, they were generous with the amount of each topping! Boston Pizza offers a variety of crusts and you can create your own pizza as well. I recommend that you check out this place, and if you are a meat lover, go for the Meteor! "

"Boston Pizza Crowfoot Great Service"

May 2011 — "I experienced the best service in awhile at this pizza restaurant! Our server was incredibly friendly, prompt, attentive and made us feel relaxed and comfortable. The ambience wasn't fabulous, particularly since we were seated in the family area and several children were having a bad day - but, our server saved the day! Everything was clean, including the washrooms. I think BP's prices have gone up but the portions are very big - the Crispy Chicken Pecan Salad was 13.49 and included breaded chicken breast filet, toasted pecans, pizza mozzarella, cheddar, chopped egg, julienne carrots and diced tomato over fresh garden greens tossed in ranch dressing (minus the bacon) was delicious! I was able to make a lunch for the next day with the leftovers. I'd recommend this restaurant as long as you don't mind a few kids running around and if you want great service. The salads are huge and refreshing. "

April 2011 — "A great family joint, good people, and tasty satisfying food, what else could you ask for?.I came in and right away servers were finding me a seat and asking me for a beverage. They have sub zero temp beer at their bar so the taste is pure perfection. Not only did they have a wonderful selection of pizza but other great dishes as well. Now it has a sports kind of feel to the place,so if you and the boys wish to watch the game, its more of a cozy spot.If not the family oriented part of the restaurant is exceptional as well.I ordered the tropical chicken pizza and I was blown away.It had an alfredo pizza base and pineapple with chicken and cheese.we got full off of just a medium sized pizza.(next time I'm ordering the indie size!).And they had a crazy selection of cakes and ice creams. The selection and service is wonderful. The prices aren't too bad as well.Quality over quantity but this place has both.check out a boston pizza near you!."

"Bad Promotions What a Scam"
Image

Save Review

October 2010 — "I am very disappointed in their promotion with Shopper's Drug Mart. I tried to have a nice dinner out with my boyfriend and we ended up getting scammed by both companies. The dinner was fine, our waitress was sweet, but when we went to go pay for the bill we were given a slap in the face. We had two $10 promotional Gift Cards for Boston Pizza. The expiry date says Oct 3rd, 2010. There is no fine print that says you need to use the card in the morning or before noon or anything ridiculous like that. We went to Boston Pizza on October 3rd and our gift cards were declined. All your manager could say was "Sorry, there is nothing I can do." She suggested that the cards were expired by 9am in the morning and that the only thing we could do was to write a comment on the website. She even said that she's had problems with these kind of promotions in the past. Didn't anyone complain before? Shouldn't a corporation this large learn from this mistake the first time? I'm sorry, but if you spend a certain amount of money at one company to get a gift card for Boston Pizza and then the gift cards don't even work, customers are bound to get mad and their reputation will go downhill. This feels like a scam to get money from a hard working consumer! I wish I could get my $30 something dollars back. The customer service about this situation we had was appalling! The least this big corporation can do is give us the $20 from the gift cards and next time write fine print that says that "These promotional gift cards expire on this date (Blank) but make sure you use them by the day before.""

"Decent Food, Inexperienced Service"

September 2010 — "After 2 of my 3 kids decided on Boston Pizza tonight, we ventured down to the 17th Avenue SW location. At around 6:30 pm, I was expecting a little bit of a wait until the dinner time crowd cleared. However, to my surprise it was relatively quiet in the restaurant, especially for a Thursday. The menu for the kids was your typical "kids menu"....mini pizzas, spaghetti, chicken fingers, mini burgers, etc. Not that was a bad thing...in fact, it's a good thing when it comes to feeding my kids. One child had a cheese pizza, another ordered the pepperoni pizza, and the third settled for chicken fingers. I settled for an individual Boston Royal pizza. When the food arrived, the 2 kids with the pizza's were satisfied and ate half of the pizza each. My third was not too fond of the chicken fingers, citing that it tasted like "fish". When I received my individual size pizza, I was somewhat surprised by the small size of it. However, I must admit that it was packed with toppings, and definitely was more than I needed for myself. The server was pleasant, but you could definitely tell was somewhat new to the job. When I asked him about the sides that came with the Kids menu, he was not even sure that it was included, until I showed him on the menu. When we finished up our meals, we received the bill, but did not get the itemized bill of our order. When I saw the price, I was somewhat surprised, however, proceeded to pay the bill via credit card. Still somewhat puzzled by the price, I asked the server for a copy of our order and found that the charged us for each of the kids drinks. However, these were supposed to be part of the kids meal package. Nonetheless, he apologized and asked us if he could simply give the overcharge back to us in cash, which we agreed to. Only problem is that he only gave back enough to cover 2 of the kids drinks (i.e. $6.50), when he actually owed us for 3 of them. At that time, I didn't have the heart to tell him of his error (again). All in all, the food was decent (apart from my son complaining his chicken fingers tasted like fish), and the server was friendly (apart from his lack of experience)."

"Over-priced but family friendly"

August 2010 — "We decided to go to Boston pizza off of Bowtrail and 37st in Westbrook mall on a wim. Years ago, one of my favorite pizzas was the Thai Pizza at Boston pizza so we decided to go have it. Its soo close to our home too, and sometimes having a three year old with you when going out leaves you feeling very helpless, tired, stressed so why even bother? One thing I like about Boston Pizza is that it is very reasonable for kids. Good menu selection and only about 6.25 for kids 10 and under to eat! But to be honest I never remembered just how pricey their pizzas were. Especially for the size. I think we paid about $35 for a large and it was not big. Secondly it seems they have taken alot of their classic pizzas off the menu for good. Pizzas that were unique to Boston Pizza that I remember and used to go just for the fact that they made them specially! So that was disappointing. The Service at Boston Pizza is hit or miss. Sometimes it seems you can get a crazy overly excited waitress that just wont leave you alone. Other times a lazy waitress whom you have to beg just to get a glass of water. The meal was over priced for what we got, although my daughter enjoyed the coloring her special mini pizza meal, and the fun of being out I don't think we will be going again anytime soon. Its just too boring for us! NOT worth it. Save your money! "

August 2010 — "After attending an afternoon Viper's game, some friends and I headed to the Boston Pizza in Motel Village for a bite to eat. It was absolutely packed because there was a Stamps game in a couple hours. We were lucky enough to find a table in the bar (the last one) and I was surprised how quickly our server greeted us. We ordered some hot wings to start, which were pretty good and for my main I got the personal size pepperoni pizza. It is by far the best deal on the menu, as it's less than $8 I believe and it does a good job at filling me up. The people I were with got pizza as well and I tried the perogy pizza. I've had this a few times and although it is really good, I find it a little too spicy for my taste. Even though the place was packed, we were in and out of the restaurant within an hour! Pretty impressive!"

"Very Average and Overpriced"

July 2010 — "A friend and I went to the Boston Pizza in Dalhousie NW. Overall it was a good but very average experience. It seemed overpriced for the average food they serve. The menu had a large variety of options however, all of the food seemed basic and really brought attention to the fact it is part of a large chain. Don't get me wrong, their pizza is tasty, but the pasta dish we also had, was plain. We sat in the main part of the restaurant which was adequate and family oriented with lots of booths. They also have a lounge where you can pick your own seat and the ambiance seemed a bit better from what I saw on my walk through. The service we received was nothing above average but food was brought out promptly. It also took a while to get our water glasses refilled and some of the cutlery was dirty. I would not return to this restaurant, nor would I recommend it to friends. "

April 2010 — "If you're looking for a place with lots of selection and fun environment for kids and adults then Boston Pizza is a great place to go to. They have everything from sandwiches, pasta, seafood, ribs, steak and of course pizza. They have a good size kids menu too. Prices are very decent and so are the portion sizes. I had the 10 oz sirloin and it was serves just as I wanted it. Once of the things I like there is having the tv playing the sport games. It really help the time past while you're waiting for your food. Not that the food took too long to be served. The service was fast and friendly, everyone's food tastes pretty good. There mashed potatoes are really good because they actually mash the potatoes with a bit a potato skin as well. With the garlic bread and ceasar salad there was no more room for dessert which look really good. I'll be back for more for sure ordering something small to try out the great dessert menu. "

October 2009 — "A couple of weeks ago I decided to take my girls (my wife and daughter) out for a date. There really aren't that many options for a four year old where she will actually eat....so BP's we went. We went to the Richmond Road location which has noticeably been going down hill over the past year or so. We have come here several times recently and the service and food have been awful! But we thought why not give them another chance..... I had 2 coupons with me that evening. One for a free kids meal with the purchase of an entree and one for a free appetizer with the purchase of an entree. Seeing as my wife and I both planned on ordering one I asked, before we even ordered our drinks if we could use them both. The waitress said "yes sir - no problem". We ate our meal....it was ok...the service was slow...and ok..... Then the bill came. I was away from the table when it arrived and the waitress came and told my wife we could only use one and she had to pick. When I came back and found this out. I went and found the manager. Then manager actually argued with me about it. And I ended up using only one. (Which I wouldn't have minded if I hadn't been told earlier.) It really left a bad taste in my mouth and we certainly won't be back!"

September 2009 — "I like Boston Pizza. Their pizza is actually quite good. The sauce is superior to any other pizza chain, the crust is golden crispy but still flavourful, and I like how they slightly burn the edges of the pepperoni and green peppers on top. The service at the Dalhousie BPs has always been quick and friendly. This time in, we ordered a few beers and a pizza to watch a ball game with. The pizza was as good as ever (even if it is too expensive: think $30 for a large). I have purchased pizza from them before on special for $18, which is a little more reasonable. Our server was polite and it was an enjoyable experience. They really do have good pizza and it always comes out the same. There's a lot to be said for consistency. Now, if they can just get their prices in line, things would be just fine."

July 2009 — "We recently ran to the Boston Pizza close to our house for a quick bite to eat prior to going out for a night on the town. We have faced many challenges at this location in the past, and it always appears to be some sort of staffing issues. On this occasion in particular, we again ran into the same issues. I’m not entirely sure that there was one actual waitress in the restaurant section that night. However, this review is not all bad news. Unlike in the past, were we have been ignored and offered little service, an entire fleet of assistant managers were serving the entire restaurant. I have to say, it was the best service we have ever received there. They were attentive, friendly, and quick. Its great to see management staff taking on responsibility to make the experience of their diners great. With regards to the food, it was good. Standard Boston Pizza food, which is what you expect walking into a chain like this. I ordered the Chicken Mushroom Fettuccini which was right on par. What could have been another bad experience at this restaurant, turned into an exceptional one. We will continue to go there. "

June 2009 — "I just found out the first Boston Pizza was founded in Edmonton. That explains the perogy pizza. Which is exactly what I ordered when I stopped by the Marlborough location for lunch with some friends. Gotta admit, the 10" perogy pizza I ordered was really, really good. The crispy cheddar along with the bacon (or bacon bits, I'm not really sure) made my meal feel more like a big snack. Be warned though, the pizza does not hold up after a night in the fridge. In hindsight I should have bought the 8". One of my pet peeves is servers who are too scared to approach a table because their food is late. Which is why I appreciated the service at this BP. The second it seemed like our food was taking a bit more time than it should, our server came to the table and explained there was a mix up and the food would be another 10 minutes, which none of us had a problem with. Let this be a lesson to any server out there. Be honest with your customers and don't just avoid an uncomfortable situation. 9 times out of 10 your tips will be better off for it."

"Good Food for a Good Price!"

March 2009 — "Unexpectedly, we ended up in the Mackenzie Towne area of Calgary and thought we better eat something before we took the trek back home to our downtown area home. There is a Boston Pizza right in the middle of a bustling shopping centre, right off 130th Avenue. My wife and I chose to dine in the restaurant area, seeing it was St. Paddy's Day and I didn't want to hang out in the busy pub/lounge. We were greeted by the hostess quickly and were seated at a table right in the middle of the restaurant. I was pleased to see that on Tuesday's they offer $9.75 gourmet pastas or other pasta for around $7. I chose to have the spaghetti and meatballs. The server warned me that it was very large, but I said I could handle it and would likely eat half my wife's too. My wife ordered the Homestyle Lasagne and we both had caesar salads to start. The caesars were very tasty and when my spaghetti arrived, it was a massive portion, but while eating it I realized the great majority of it was noodles. It tasted great though. My wife really liked her lasagna. The only downfall is that by sitting in the restaurant side on a day that there was cheap pasta, we were absolutely surrounded by dining families with small children. It was a madhouse and there was a lineup at the door as well! I didn't mind the children's crying because it was more like were just there for a pit-stop, not a fine dining experience, but I was sure happy to have the peace and quiet of my childless truck afterward! This dining experience was very good overall. The server had greeted us and said she was new, but ultimately she did a good job. Even better is that after we had a pint of beer, a pop, two salads and two entrees, our bill was under $35!! On Tuesday night's this is the place to dine! If I am ever looking for a place to eat in Mackenzie Towne again, we might try this restaurant again! "

Even better was the price, it cost a mere $8. The beer was very tasty as well, so tasty in fact that I had to have two! The restaurant was fairly busy and the server was good. The food and the beers arrived promptly and we were never left waiting around. I have visited this Boston Pizza location on several occasions and have always left satisfied, and this particular visit was no different. I'm sure I'll be heading there for lunch or dinner again soon. "

"Yummy Pizza!"

January 2009 — "A couple of us dined at the Boston Pizza in Dalhousie and found it to be a good experience overall. The price was pretty good considering we went on a Tuesday which is their Pasta Tuesday day and got a good deal. We also had the Spicy Perogy pizza which seemed like an odd type of pizza but was really good! I definitely recommend it. We sat in the lounge, which was great because you get to pick your own seat there and our server was friendly. The only downside was how long it took to get our food. It took quite a while even though it didn't seem overly busy for a Tuesday night and we also noticed that some people who sat down after us, ended up getting their food before us. Not sure what was up with that, but I'd still go back to this location and try it again."

"Waiting......"

December 2008 — "The experience at Boston Pizza in Westbrook began after the lunch rush and it felt like the urgency for service had disappeared. A group of us sat in the restaurant and quickly decided that pizza and beer were on the agenda. We had one person lagging behind and ordered our drinks, as well as water before he came. As we waited for our drinks, our friend had arrived and quickly ordered the beverage of his liking. We definitely had to wait for beverages to appear, it took at least eight to 10 minutes for them to arrive at our table. Being as it was pretty slow after the lunch rush in the restaurant, we assumed our service would be more prompt, but instead we had extremely sub-par service. The pizza, when it arrived, was fantastic. However, the service was just too inexperienced to be enjoyable. It took too long to get our drinks and to get our food that it overshadowed the delicious taste of the meal once we had received it.""

"Won't be back"

November 2007 — "I'm not a fan of Boston Pizza but my sister wanted to go so the two of us and a few others headed to the BPs at Country Hills. Upon getting there, we were greeted by a server and she proceeded to prepare a table for us while we waited at the entrance. A few seconds later, another server came over and tried to prepare a table for us as well. We told her we were already waiting and she asked us to point out who was helping us. When she saw the other girl, she said something along the lines of, “Oh her... No, I'll help you instead.” She then went off and started to prepare a different table for us. Well, the first girl won and we were seated. But guess who ends up being our server anyways? The second girl! Strange customer service tactics they have going on there... The rest of dinner was uneventful. Service nothing exceptional. My ciabatta chicken sandwich was good but the fries were dry and cold, as if they had been sitting around for a while. I asked the server to pack the other half of my sandwich, which she forget to bring back to me. Whatever, no big deal but annoying either way. Won't be back to this BP. The service is just really off and there are better BPs in the city anyways."

"Seemed expensive for just Pizza"

May 2007 — "We had gone to Boston Pizza a few times in the past and had fairly good pizzas in the past. This visit was no different but the price seemed to have gone up considerably. We had two medium pizzas between myself and my two teenaged kids, 1 beer and 2 pops. The total came to about $65 before tip. Although the pizzas were quite good, the total price was a bit of a shock!"
