October 2011 — "Sam’s Deli on Government Street is a great deli to stop in for breakfast or lunch. I wasn’t greeted by any of the many staff behind the counter that seemed to be busy with food preparation. I wasn’t sure where to order but I saw someone else standing at the end of one counter having their sandwich prepared, I assumed to go in the same area and there I was greeted by a young girl who make my sandwich from scratch. The menu has a wide variety of freshly made sandwiches, salads and a few types of soup to choose from on the menu. I tried a turkey sandwich on local fresh multi grain bread which was fantastic. The menu is a bit high in price but with fresh deli meats, bread and condiments it is well worth the extra cost than any fast food options. The cashier was nice, he seemed a bit pre-occupied but he was polite and wished me a nice day. I would recommend Sam’s Deli for a quick and healthy alternative experience."

August 2010 — "It's hard to think of a better spot for a sandwich place than on the nearest end of Government St. to the inner harbour.
It has a great interior and despite coming in with a huge group of people, they accommodated our large order with maximum efficiency. That said, the sandwich itself did not blow me away. It was your standard issue veggie sandwich, which is fine; the avocado on it was really nice. But if I didn't have any cheese on it, the sandwich may not have had any flavour. I was kind of underwhelmed. Maybe the carnivores will have better luck with their sandwiches? (Veggie ones are so often an afterthought)."

August 2008 — "We went to this restaurant out of recommendation of a friend of ours. We had no problems finding the restaurant but on this particular day, we could not find parking anywhere within 5 blocks. After being persistent, we finally found parking and we were glad that we did. The restaurant was absolutely packed, which we took as a good sign. We happened to get a table sitting outside on the little patio and we enjoyed a shrimp and avocado sandwich and a bowl of corn chowder. They were both exceptionally good. The shrimp sandwich was very fresh tasting and the soup was very tasty and just like homemade. The atmosphere at this restaurant is a café/deli that is very relaxed and casual. We dined with our 1 year old daughter in the stroller and it was appropriate for her. The service at the facility was very good and speedy to get the crowd through. The prices were average for the quality of food. I would recommend this restaurant and visit it again."

Sam's Deli is situated in the Belmont Building in downtown Victoria. This local deli serves fresh sandwiches and soups to its patrons. For dessert, there are six Rogers' ice cream flavours to chose from. The ice cream can be ordered in a waffle cone or in a cup.
