May 2009 — "The Kasbar Lounge is located below Yiannis Taverna on Whyte Avenue in Edmonton. Besides the menu, Kasbar breaks from Yiannis in every way—décor, music and overall atmosphere. There is an exotic Moroccan theme, with rich Mediterranean colours in tapestries and antiques, and the mood is complete with romantic lighting and great music. It’s absolutely ideal for a quiet and special night out. Another plus is the menu—the traditional and tasty Greek fare served upstairs is also available in Kasbar. It’s appropriately priced which means it’s a little expensive but that’s standard for Greek restaurants in the city. They also have a good selection of beer and wine. The place can get busy and sometimes even closes for private parties, so call and make a reservation ahead of time. A word of warning: reservations for Kasbar are made through Yiannis and on more than one occasion my reservation didn’t actually make it down the stairs."
