"Enjoyable Time at a Busy Restaurant"

August 2011 — "It was a busy place. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table because it was supper rush. There were a lot of people waiting! We didn't care if we were seated inside or on the patio. We were seated outside. They had propane heaters (the tall ones) going outside and I felt they were unnecessary as it was a beautiful evening. The heat from the heater was bothering me after a while. Our server was extremely busy. I found out later when I was paying that he was covering the area that two servers would normally cover. Although we waited a bit longer than normal he was very pleasant and was very apologetic. Despite being busy he took his time getting our drink order and our food order and was also extremely patient when he explained the contents of a meal I wasn't sure about. He didn't rush through it and didn't look annoyed we were holding him up. I had the spaghetti with meatballs. It was good although I don't like the fact that there was a bit of water at the bottom of my plate. My party and I enjoyed eating here."

"Wonderful Atmosphere & Service"

February 2011 — " The old Spaghetti Factory on Douglas Street is a fantastic traditional place for lunch or dinner. We recently moved to the area and after a day of unpacking we decided to check out the Old Spaghetti Factory, we both haven’t been since we were kids and thought it would be a great treat to celebrate our move. The hostess was so welcoming when we arrived and we were seated within moments of our arrival. I forgot about the great warm bread served with regular and garlic whipped butter while you read the menu. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was helpful with our decisions. The pricing of the menu is very reasonable and with very generous portions. We tried a new beer brewed right in Victoria which was great. I enjoyed the Spinach salad with their homemade honey mustard dressing with apples and almonds, I added grilled chicken to my salad for only two dollars more and the portion of the salad was a full meal size. My partner loved his traditional Chicken Parmigiana served with fresh salad, and a choice of spaghetti or French fries. We noticed there were daily specialties and a simple lunch menu to choose from so we will be going back to enjoy. If you are in Victoria and you are looking for a hearty meal head to the Old Spaghetti Factory. "

"Great for Kids."

May 2010 — "We had a family birthday party for our 2 year old daughter this past month. I had no idea where we could all go, that would be accommodating to a group of 9, that included children. someone had mentioned the Old Spaghetti Factory. So, we made a reservation. When we got there, the restaurant was packed, but they had a table reserved for us, around the side where it was not too crowded. The drink menu is good, nothing too fancy, but lots to choose from, and the menu was good too. Almost everything on the menu, was expectantly pasta, with a few chicken and salad dished as well. I had the tortellini, which was very nice, fresh and filling. I wish that I could make it at home like that! My husband had the shrimp sauce spaghetti pasta, and he did not like it. It was bland, and the baked cheese on top was a synthetic cheese slice that looked and probably tasted like rubber. He wished that he had gotten something a little more simple, as this is no fine dinning experience, order the spaghetti with meatballs or tortellini and be happy. The cheesy toast was great, and by the look on our 2 year olds face, the child size spaghetti was awesome, she ate it all, except for what was left on the floor and on her face. it was priceless. the waitress was very nice and efficient, and didn't seem to mind at all that there was a huge mess behind us after we left. I would definitely go back again, as most everyone from our table was happy with their meal, full, and they staff and other patrons didn't seem to mind the mess and noise from our large party."

"Could certainly be better"

May 2010 — "This restaurant is in a prime tourist location, right downtown. Keeping in mind that it is a family restaurant, I think they can certainly do better. I live in Victoria, and have been here twice, each time leaving not overly impressed. Yes, they do give you a salad, meal, desert, then tea or coffee for one price, but it does make you ask if this is a good or bad thing. Salad is straight from a bag, then pasta was simply a scoop of sauce over a massive plate of white spaghetti noodles. I accepted the waitresses offer to have it "oven baked" which I realize now simply means "have a piece of processed cheese slapped on top then warmed". On the other hand, my 2 year old daughter loved it. She likely dropped more spaghetti on the floor than she put in her mouth, but she was happy either way. We have to keep in mind she is neither looking for quality or paying! I will do my best to avoid going again."

"One of the best deals around"
Image

Save Review

March 2010 — "This place is always packed; I have never seen it without a line up out the door. After finally eating there, I can see why; this is probably one of the best deals ever. With their 'all inclusive meals', you get soup or salad for an appetizer, a generous portion of pasta (or another entre), some ice cream for dessert, and tea or coffee. Oh, and PS- this all inclusive meal is only about $9-$15 (depending on the kind of pasta you get). We kind of felt like criminals when our bill only came to $30 before the tip. Worth mentioning; I was expecting the salad to be garbage. Instead, it was delicious, with a house made (not Kraft! Yay!) dressing. The ice cream portion you get is small, but you are already full from your meal anyway! Also noteworthy are the place mats with local history. Worth reading, trust me. But next time, I think we'll make a reservation."

"excellent"

December 2008 — "everything was above average. The food was hot, delicious and plenty. The service couldn't have been better. It was so good, we took my father to it 4 days later. The waiter (who wasn't serving us this time) actually remembered us, and came over to say hey. Our waitress was excellent, and got a pretty decent tip as a result. Highly recommended!!"

"Good Family Dining"

November 2007 — "The Old Spaghetti Factory is located in the downtown core of Victoria near the museum. In fact, it was at the IMAX Theatre that we saw the ad for the Old Spaghetti Factory and decided to go there after. It is in a historical building and has interesting features. At the entrance is an old gas pump that has been converted to a fish tank. The seating was very comfortable - mostly booths. Among other items, the menu offered traditional spaghetti with meatballs and lasagna. My husband and daughter both had the spaghetti and meatballs and reported that they both enjoyed their choices. I wanted something different and had penne with chicken in a cream sauce, also very good. The service was quick although we did have to wait for half an hour before being seated, but that is just a testimony to how popular the place is. The prices were reasonable and we all left having had more than enough to eat and agreed to return sometime soon."
