March 2010 — "In the heart of Chinatown, this sushi place is in a great location and maybe because of this very reason, the quality and the service of the place is not the greatest. Their lunch menu does have cheaper options and some specials, but nothing special. The all you can eat is really not worth it either. There is only so much your stomach can take. Sushi is really about quality over quantity. The bento box is nice, but I just can't get the lack of service out of my head. I wanted to like this place, but I just couldn't. I do think that the steak in the bento box is alright, but the sushi is just not up to par. I think of all the sushi places that I have gone, it is one that I have to make a point out of convincing myself otherwise. I tend to walk into Sushi Tokyo without really thinking too much, but my hopeful appetite is usually let down. "

"New management but quality remains poor"

February 2010 — "My parents recently heard that Sushi Tokyo is under new management so our family decided to give it a try for Sunday lunch. The menu is different but the first thing we noticed was how some items we used to order are no longer on the menu (i.e. nabeyaki udon, special prawn sushi, etc). We all ordered a lunch combo and some extra sushi to share. I had the sushi and teriyaki steak combo that came with soup, rice and salad. The soup was very luke warm and didn't taste so great. The salad dressing looked like a big blog of mayo but the salad was edible. The sushi wasn't that great and was definitely below par. The steak was the worst. It was really tough. I ordered medium rare, while the rest of my family got medium cooked but for some reason my steak was more cooked than everyone's. The steaks that were supposed to be cooked medium came out bloody and rare, which was a big disappointment. The quality is even worst than it was before the change of management, if you can even imagine that. I recommend you steer clear of this place."

May 2009 — "I took my brother to Sushi Tokyo to try their “all you can eat sushi special” , to my surprise it was actually quite nice. We ordered a variety of different foods and enjoyed most of them. The only thing that I did not enjoy was the way they made their tofu, it was horrible! But the rest of the food was great. We just had to be careful not to order too much sushi, because it can really fill you up. The service was good and the décor was great! One thing that I did not like was that they automatically put the service fee on your bill, and still kind of demanded more when you were paying the bill. That was really not necessary. All in all, I think I will go back if I’m in the area. "

September 2008 — "This was the lowest quality of sushi I ever had. Plus there are a couple of tricks in the "All you can eat": First, if you have leftovers, they charge you an additional dollar and half per piece. I paid 30 dollars entry fee for my two kids (11 and 8), they hated the food and ate very little, and then I was penalized an additional 1.5 dollars per piece for every thing they didn't eat. This is daylight robbery. Second, there is a mandatory tip of 10% (regardless of the number of patrons). They also ask you for normal tip at the end, pretending it wasn't included. I told them I was completely unhappy with their service, but they denied backing out the tip. I doubt it will go to the waiter’s account at all; basically just adding to the price in a hidden and unfair way. Very unfriendly staff, no attention to customers (why should they? the tip is mandatory!), too much condensed rice coming with each piece, restricted choices of sushi. I will never go there again. "

November 2007 — "Me and my partner stopped here for supper and had a great time. The service was pleasant, attentive (but not smothering) and fun. The sushi was alright. The selection was a little small and the rolls were not all that good. However, the sashimi was great, I highly recommend the smoked salmon. All in all I liked it there and would probably go back."
