April 2011 — "Sushi Boat has long been serving residents of NW Calgary in the Crowfoot Outdoor Mall. Located in a small strip next to a pub and electronic store, it is a great destination for fresh and convenient sushi. The restaurant is built around a large revolving sushi conveyor belt which circulates little sushi trays. This is convenient for people who aren't familiar with sushi names and just want to grab whatever looks appetizing. You can also order other items such as soup and ramen off the menu but most people attend to see what's on the conveyor belt. Seating is available on the conveyor belt bar or at individual tables. Prices are on par with other sushi restaurants around the city. If you choose to take items off the circulating sushi boats you are billed based on the number of plates left on your table. Prices of plates are different based on their color. This restaurant can be very busy during weekday evenings so its best to call for a reservation in advance."

March 2011 — "I am not a huge Sushi fan, but once in a while a get the craving. It turned out that the Sushi Boat is actually an experience, both stimulating and fun. One sits at a bar and watches as an overwhelming array of sushi "floats"by in little boats. Using a picture menu, it is possible to identify the various menu items. If you want to try one, you just grab it as it goes by. The color of the plate tells you how much it costs and at the end of it all, the servers simply tally the number of plates you have of the various colors and present you with your bill. It is easier to do than it may sound as the menu is color coded the same as the plate colors. Of course, if you are having trouble spotting the sushi that you want you can simply order it through one of the servers. The least expensive plates (green) were less than $2, so for a few dollars you can try a good number of dishes. Beer is reasonably priced at about $4.50. Sushi boat was fun and the food tasted great too. Enjoy!"

February 2011 — "I'm sure glad we accidently found this restaurant - fun! I remember something like this restaurant in Banff when I was a kid where the sushi was presented a la carte on the top of a toy train that went round and round - everyone sat at the bar and could grab what they wanted. This is the same idea except the sushi rides in little boats floating around the bar. A menu describes the dishes, and the prices are represented by the colour of the plate. A little overwhelming at first, particularly since I didn't want to grab raw dishes, it took awhile to get familiar with the menu as it is quite extensive. For $1.95 each, I ended up choosing Spicy Wakkame (seaweed sushi - 2 pieces), Natto (Fermented Soy Beans - 2 pieces), a pile of Edamane Beans, and a bowl of Miso Soup. I tried the Special Eel Roll (4 pieces) for $3.45 and then washed it down with a Kirin Beer for $4.20. The total cost was around $15. It was a fun way to eat Sushi and the servers were great - always checking that we understood what to do, how to order special dishes and so on. The restaurant was sparkling clean, a good thing considering all of the food being prepared in the main area. I'd recommend this restaurant for sure. "

August 2010 — "I think this is the first time I’ve been to sushi boat at the NW Crowfoot and I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, I think it’s fair to warn you that the website and actual restaurant couldn’t be more different. I really haven’t had the authentic Japanese sushi on the revolving conveyer belt in Calgary before. It’s perfect for those sushi eaters that hate waiting for their food and want to just get started immediately. Perfect for the hungry to get seated and help yourself to whatever looks appetizing. Of course, there are also the dishes that you have to order as well, but they generally didn’t take too long for the kitchen to bring it out, at least for my visit. The plates are color coded, corresponding to a cost value, ranging anywhere from $2-5, about average price. Unfortunately, the uni was out of season, but I think I would go back to give it another try. It’s pretty easy to get out of hand and order more than you bargained for because the food is right in front of you, but I left happy and satisfied. "

May 2010 — "The sushi was pretty good, but there wasn't a great deal of variety making the experience a little boring."

September 2007 — "This i s a great sushi place. You can either take sushi off the boats that move in front of you, or order if you don't see anything you want, either way it is always fresh. The servers are friendly and super quick. All in all it is a great place that consistently return to."
