July 2009 — "First off the establishment itself is BEAUTIFUL! Very nicely set up, relatively clean, and great service!
Just a couple of notes...
The portions are entirely too small!
The sticky rice(nomyguy) is dry and the little yellow bits(egg maybe?)are very off putting. Very little meat and needs more moisture.
The pork dumplings(shomy)are very small and contain more shrimp than anything! They are still delicious!, but if they were a little bigger, the pork to shrimp ratio would be a little better.
The beef and green onion dumplings...by far the best! I frequent a certain dim sum palace, and one thing i noticed was the decrease in quality of the beef dumplings. Golden rice bowl has not strayed from the original recipe and thank you for that!!!
The beef and green peppers and eggplant are still traditional and wonderful! Keep it up!
Other than this, the restaurant is wonderful! Please take note of the two dishes that keep me enthralled with Hong Kong cuisine and I will be glad to switch back to my once favorite dim sum adventure!!!!"

"Finest authentic Chinese dining experience in Edmonton!"

December 2008 — "WOW!
It has been a number of years since I have been to the Golden Rice Bowl… and when I went in for a wedding reception held there recently, I was knocked off my feet! The tables were all covered with beautiful embroidered tableclothes, spectacular dishware and elegant seat covers. The staff were dressed in beautiful traditional Chinese uniforms which made me feel I had entered a Chinese palace!
The meal was the best Chinese food I have ever had, period. From exotic foods like abalone and shark fin’s soup to more basic dishes of beef, chicken, or pork… the Golden Rice Bowl was heads and shoulders have anything else in Alberta, quite frankly.
The atmosphere was very classy. New chandeliers, new carpet, and a massive and beautiful salt water fish tank were all very impressive. I note that the restaurant now has an advanced multi-screen projection system which allows laptop presentations (e.g. wedding slideshows) to be displayed simultaneously on 3 separate screens located around the restaurant. There is also a video camera built into the system that can allow you to project the guest speaker onto one of the 3 big screens around the restaurant! The wild thing is that the camera can pivot 360 degrees & zoom in/out for maximum flexibility… and it’s all controlled by a high-tech touch-screen remote control!
Guests can watch a DVD, satellite t.v. or a laptop presentation. The microphone system was very clear and the sound quality of the audio system was fantastic. Best sound quality I’ve heard in any restaurant or even conference centres for that matter. The restaurant was comfortable and clean.
My overall impression of the Golden Rice Bowl is that there is no better restaurant in Edmonton which offers as high quality food and amazing facilities for weddings/banquets/meetings.
I will be back and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone."
