May 2007 — "Union Hall is an awesome place to go if you are a student on a budget. Thursday nights feature 2 hours of 25cent hi-balls. This is a popular night for University students in Edmonton. The two-floor venue is centered around the dance floor. The DJs have a select amount of music that they play. It usually consists of old rock music mixed with top 40 hits. When you request a song the DJs typically will not play it unless it is one of the regular songs that they play. Mostly for the under 25 crowd, the atmosphere is dark, loud and kind of dingy. Most people either love or hate this place, but if you are a student in Edmonton you have to experience a Thursday nights at Union Hall.

April 2007 — "This bar is excellent. The staff are super friendly, and they strive to make this club so much fun. The management are excellent at planning special events, and also very approachable. The DJ's are more approachable than 90% of other club DJ's, and the music is great. Security do an outstanding job of making sure everything is peaceful. The place is also remarkably kept clean, and is almost always busy.
Ambience: Great lighting, seems more like a concert venue at times. In addition to the DJ, they have a specific person running the lights as well. They have various over-sized rock album covers throughout. Their four massive TV's and multiple smaller ones (including their new HD Flat Screens) display ad's for upcoming events, show music videos, extreme sports, as well as Oiler hockey and UFC events on those nights. The crowd is largely college crowd under 25, but because it's not on Whyte Ave it doesnt attract as many "just turned 18" types. If you are a fan of rock music, I highly reccomend this bar, but it plays a great variety of music. The volume isn't excessive, at least for me personally. It's not a quiet night out type place, of course. It is rather dark in there, but with the lighting its very exciting.
Beverages: They offer a good selection of local and imported beers. It's not a huge variety place in that terms, but with the crowd it caters too, simple beer and shooters work best. They have one main bar each upstairs and downstairs, which generally have at least four or five bartenders (although the upstairs one is often closed in off-peak times). They also have two side bars downstairs, and one upstairs (each employ two-three bartenders) and as long as the upstairs is open, all three are open. They also have two beer tub locations (one on each floor) which offer basic drinks. The bartender's are knowledgable and friendly. The drinks are almost always cold.
Cleanliness- Each bathroom has an attendant to keep the room clean as well as for security purposes. They do an amazing job. Several porters are employed and they are constantly removing empty bottles and glassware from the area around the dance floor. Great work!
They don't serve food at all, but there is often a hot dog stand in the parking lot.
Staff Service- Amazing! Among the most friendly people ever. All the way from the Area Manager, the General Manager and the Manager down to the Porters, Coat Check Girls and Bathroom attendants. Everyone is extremely friendly! Being a very popular bar can cause line-ups outside, but the area is heated and well-lit, and the door staff are very prompt and efficient. The bars get very busy but the bartender's are always very fast, accurate and efficient. Sometimes it helps to go upstairs where it's less busy to get quicker service, but either way you're guaranteed to be served with a smile.
The pricing is VERY reasonable for a club of it's size. Make sure you check out the various specials and shooter sales!
