April 2011 — "Ha Long bay is a frequented lunch spot among people in my office and generally I love going there on occasion for a rice bowl and tea. The busy chaotic atmosphere over the lunch hour barely phases me as our food still comes quick and there are usually minimal issues. This visit however the service was extremely slow, it took over 15 minutes to even have a drink order taken. I also ventured into trying their pho tai which was really missing something. The flavour of the soup was quite bland and I had to add a lot of hot sauce before I felt like it had any taste to it. In conclusion, something was missing during my last visit to Ha Long Bay; although they are usually quite fantastic with their rice bowls and quick lunch service their slow pace and lacking soup left me unsatisfied this time around. For a Vietnamese joint with relatively higher prices than most other places I am suddenly interested in expanding my horizons. "

December 2009 — "If your working downtown and looking for a Vietnamese noodle house, you will be hard pressed to find something comparable to ones on 17th avenue SE or Chinatown. However, Ha Long Bay comes closest when compared to the other choices we have downtown. Its located right along the C-Train Line across from Scotia Centre. So a quick hop on the C-Train should get you here during your lunch hour. Its usually very busy here, so I’d recommend come either before or just after the lunch rush at noon. I ordered the satay chicken and found it pretty decent. Though, I think it could use more chicken. The soup is relatively creamy and sufficiently heated. Service here is not too bad as your food arrives fairly quick. Its hard to get the waiter to come back mid meal though, so be sure to make your drink order at the same time. Price is about $11 per bowl."

April 2007 — "We just visited Ha Long Bay for the first time the other day. We went during the lunch hour and were weary that we might have to wait a long time for our food. However, we were greeted promptly at the door to the restaurant, seated right away and our food was out within 10 minutes. That is incredibly fast for a restaurant downtown during the lunch rush. We had salad rolls to start, which were very tasty. I had Lemon Grass Beef with Spring Rolls. Although it was not the best Vietnamese food I have ever had, I really appreciated the quick service and the food tasted really good too. "
