August 2011 — "The Velvet Olive offers a quaint small setting yet an atmosphere very full of life! Weekly open mics draw a fun young crowd to the scene with energy and tons to offer! My cousin brought us here for the good food and drinks and we stayed for the live entertainment. The hosts treat the artists as family and everyone brings something unique to the table.
We also found art and jewelry for sale from local artists . All for sale and one of a kind!
I enjoyed a relaxed environment with some delicious dishes such as spinach artichoke dip, stuffed crab and cheese mushrooms fresh mussels and oysters. My husband had a cheese platter, wine, mini bruchetta samplers, wings, and their famous french onion soup. Our server was kind, cheery, giving, and always on spot.
Be sure to get there early if you want to sit down because it fills up after 9pm. Entertainers looking to play a song or two should bring there own instrument and be there early enough to sign up.

June 2009 — "The best reason to go to the Velvet Olive is for the great entertainment. And the favorite of the group is a young singer, mysteriously known as "M." Her beautiful voice and haunting guitar work mesmerized the crowd.
The second best reason is the beer. And yes, I got sloppy drunk that night. I don't remember much..... but I remember "M.""
