November 2010 — "I have wanted to go to Ed's since it opened in 1984 and weirdly enough I've never managed to get there...until last night. A beautiful old house is filled with tables on two floors, and we got to sit in what was probably once the bedroom. Our waitress was a hard worker - up and down those stairs she went at least 15 times (at least, that's when I lost count!). She was friendly and helpful and more than willing to hike up and down those stairs to get what we wanted. The menu is interesting and I decided to go for the Pacifico Pizza, a terrific blend of thinly sliced smoked salmon, tomato sauce, small red onions and a combination of feta and mozzarella cheeses. It also had small chunks of asparagus spread across the 9" pizza. The pizza was $16 and definitely worth it! I had a nice glass of their white wine to go with the meal - they had a HUGE selection of reds and white and dessert wines - I chose the house Chard and it was tasty. I ended up sharing a delicious bundt cake dessert for $7 - thick chocolate with a chocolate drizzle and a raspberry drizzle, topped with vanilla icecream. I'm not much of a dessert fan but this was good - very very rich so nice to share with someone else. The place was clean, the service great, and the food even better. Definitely check out Ed's if you're in the neighbourhood - it's a great stop if you are heading to something on the Stampede Grounds which is only about a 5 minute walk away."

July 2009 — "On our way to see the Kenny Chesney concert at the Saddledome in Calgary we stopped at Ed’s for dinner and drinks. As it was during Stampede in Calgary, and one of the few restaurants in walking distance to the grounds and Saddledome, they offered a more limited menu to keep up with the crowds of people. For appetizers we ordered chicken wings and spanakopita, which is a phylo dough stuffed with spinach and feta cheese and served with a tzatiki sauce. Both were very good. For my main meal I ordered the fettuccine and tenderloin which is served in a creamy sauce. The portion-size was quite large and had plenty of steak in it. As it was a beautiful evening, we sat upstairs on the patio which was completely full. I’m not sure what is offered for restrooms on the main floor, but the one upstairs is very small. Our service was also a little slow, but was very understandable due to it being Stampede in Calgary"
