"Beer + Mountains = Perfect!"

July 2011 — "The Grizzly Paw Brewery in Canmore is my favorite pub to go to whenever I am in Canmore. The service is great and the atmosphere is really friendly. In the summer, they have one of the best patios around! Their menu is really good, consisting of burgers, sandwiches, pizza etc. Everything is just a step up from your regular pub grub. The pulled pork sandwich with "paw fries" is amazing! Just the right amount of sauce and the portion is perfect. I have to say though that the best part of the Grizzly Paw is that they brew their own beer! They have a very large selection of different beers to suite all different tastes. You can even order a sampler which is a small glass of about 6 different varieties. My personal favorite is Rutting Elk Red Ale. The icing on the cake is the beautiful view of the mountains while enjoying your meal. You just can't beat that! "

"A fresh take on beer!"

July 2011 — "The Grizzly Paw Brewing Company in Canmore offers an exciting new take on beer! If you like what you try there in the restaurant, you can even take some bottled beer home with you. We went and sat on their patio on a beautiful sunny day and thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent mountain view while dining! It was clear that this is the place to be in town as we had to wait about 15 minutes to get a seat out on the patio. It was well worth the wait. The raspberry beavertail beer was delicious and refreshing with a slight raspberry finish. To eat, I ordered the grilled salmon sandwich, which was very, very good! The salmon was cooked just right and was moist and flakey. The bun was fresh and the fries were hot and crispy. Paired with the beer, I was in heaven! Our meal was a bit pricey, but the value was there, and the surroundings made it very special. The Grizzly Paw is a great place to go! "

December 2010 — "I usually make a point of visiting this brew pub when I'm in Canmore or passing through it -- they have great food and amazing drinks. On my most recent visit, I stopped in for a hangover breakfast after a night out in Banff. The food and the drinks really fixed me up -- Their beer and cheese chowder is probably the best soup I've ever had, and their food specials are always really good. I particularly love the quesadillas. As for drinks, they brew their own beer so it's a must have. If beer's not your thing, though, try the homemade sodas -- they are amazing. I would highly recommend the cream soda. The service is usually really good, though that can vary depending on how busy they are. As for the ambiance, it's basically just your average pub with wood tables, floors and walls, but it makes up for it in food, drink and the funny celebrity photos. "

"Slow service but great beer and food"

May 2009 — "Not a fan of the atmosphere. Both the lower restaurant and upper "lounge" were both very much the same, and full of young kids. The service was very slow as it took 15 minutes to get our first order for drinks. However, the beer was great as they brew it right in the restaurant. With a good selection of different local brews, it was nice to have an option for a "sampler" with a taster of each type. And for the non beer lover, they also brew their our soda pops. The food, while again slow, was quite tasty, and all sauces and spices (including their hot sauce) are made in the restaurant. Worth a try, but not worth going every trip."

"A Great Pub!"

March 2009 — "Whenever I'm in Canmore, I usually stop at the Grizzly Paw for a bite to eat. I just love the relaxed atmosphere of this restaurant, especially in the summer out on the patio. The pub is known for its six types of beers on tap that are made in-house. Today my wife ordered the raspberry ale and thought it was really good. The menu is filled with appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, pizzas and pasta. We started with some honey hot wings, which were perfectly cooked. They were crunchy on the outside and tender inside. We devoured those immediately. I chose to have the bison mushroom swiss burger with carmelized onions and fries with gravy. It was very good. I also ate some of my wife's Brewers pasta, which was a penne with chicken, sundried tomatoes, spinach etc. It too was very good. The server was very attentive and the food came quite quickly. We were in and out in under an hour! "

"The Best Burgers In Canmore! "

March 2009 — "The Grizzly Paw Brewery is located in the heart of Canmore. I went there with one of my friends while staying in Canmore. Inside it is cozy and warm, decorated like a comfortable log cabin. The seating is comfortable and the lights were a bit dim to create a casual atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly and quick to seat us at a small table for two near a window overlooking the patio set back from the main street. The menu had many choices. The drink menu alone was daunting with over 60 choices. I finally choose a blended coffee martini with Baileys, though I would have liked to have tried them all. I ordered a Caesar salad and hamburger got my main course, as did my friend. Our food was fairly quick to arrive, but we did not mind the small wait. Our food was fantastic! The Caesar salad had real bacon and shaved parmesan cheese. The burgers were quite large, but so tasty that we both finished them. We sat for quite a while talking and the waitress brought more waters. Our total bill was just under $60.00 including tip, so $30 each. Overall, the menu selection, food quality and atmosphere were very good. We will defiantly visit the Grizzly Paw Brewery again! "

"Best Beer in Canmore"

October 2007 — "I love the Grizzly Paw Pub and Brewery. The atmosphere is good (all woody and natural), the staff is friendly, the beer is tasty and the food is great. We sat at the bar and the bartender was quite willing to let us try samples of the different beers they brew there to make sure we ordered a pint that we would like. I had the raspberry beer and it is tasty without being too fruity. Hanging above the bar are mugs with the names of locals on the bottom as regulars get their own mugs to drink from. I ordered the veggie quesedilla and a salad for lunch. The quesedilla was packed with cheese, olives, jalepenos and veggies and it was great. The salad was a variation of a chef's salad with many ingredients including egg on top and a house dressing. You get the choice of ceasar salad or this chef type salad as well as fries with every meal which is a nice feature. I could not eat it all but it was good. My dining partner had a burger that was packed full of jalepenos and he said it was also very good, although he did take some of the jalepenos off the burger. Most of the food is reasonably priced but there is the odd item that seems to be priced too high. For example, the nachos, although I understand are very large, are $18! The Grizzly Paw is a busy place at almost anytime during the weekend. If you are willing to sit at the bar, you will be able to find a seat a little easier. It is a great place to try some micro brewed beer and have a meal while in Canmore."

"Nachooo!"

August 2007 — "My wife and I went to the Grizzly Paw Pub on a Sunday afternoon during the end of the summer. We arrived around 2:30pm and had to wait for about 20 minutes for a seat on the patio. We were not really hungry so we ordered nacho's, noting that the price was about five dollars more then we've seen in any pub before. When the nacho's arrived we were surprised by the size of them. It was like they dumped a whole bag of chips on a tray and smothered them in cheese, tomato, onion and other condiments. "

"Good Food, Great Beer"

June 2006 — "I've taken my young kids to the Grizzly Paw Pub for lunch on several occasions, and the staff has always been extremely helpful and accommodating (a real pleasure when dealing with messy, impatient toddlers). They serve standard pub fare, but it's consistently good. I highly recommend their in-house brews. If you want to take some home with you, they now have a store just down the way that sells all of their beer in addition to marketing garb and paraphernalia."
