September 2010 — "Went to the Rose and Crown with some friends and was very pleased with my experience. We sat in front of one the 3 wood burning fire places that they have. The food was your good old fashioned pub food, the Beef Barley soup was hot and fresh. Our server was friendly and very quick and attentive. I would recommend you try the Rose and Crown."

"Wing Madness"

October 2009 — "We went in on a Wed night. We had tried going to a few places on the beltline previously but nothing really stuck in our minds. Apparently every Wed is wing night at the Rose. They had some sweet ass wings for 19 cents. Not many flavours but they were good sized and fresh. We went back the next week but this time on Thurs. They had live music with a couple dudes on the stage doing acoustic music. There was also some guy from a beer company, I can't remember which one, going around and giving away free beer and t-shirts. Sweet as!"

"Strange service"

March 2008 — "I have been to the Rose & Crown intermittently over the last few years and recently met up here with a group of friends. It is typically quite good - nice beer selection, tasty food, fun music. On this last visit, this was still all the case. However the service was.......odd. Our first server was completely run off her feet. After almost an hour, a new server came by to introduce herself. She pointed out how busy it was, but her comment of "I smell money!" was strange. As the night moved on, it was clear this was her obsession. When she brought the group's bill, she had manually added on a 20% tip and made sure to point out that we were obliged to pay this to her as she had other people to tip out. When one fellow got up to leave, she yelled across the room at him that he hadn't paid. (He had left his money on the table and four people were still seated there. ) At no point was anyone trying to run out on the bill, but that is the way we were consistently treated. I will hesitate to go back."

"Home of a Billion Beers"

June 2007 — "I had lunch at the Rose & Crown a couple of weeks ago, and would definitely give it a positive review. Our service was excellent and the food was very good (I had a turkey and Brie sandwich with house salad). The best part is that they have a billion beers on tap. I'm looking forward to my next visit."

"Beware of Falling Beer!"

May 2007 — "I went to the Rose and Crown after work yesterday for drinks with the girls. Our server was prompt with our drinks (it wasn't very busy on the patio yet) but then accidentally dumped a pint all over my friend's shirt and my pants! Fortunately my friend had a sweater she could change into as she truly was soaked. Our server was very apologetic and the manager came out and they paid for our first round, so we were happy with how they handled it. It's bound to happen once in a while, but it is unfortunate when it does. As the patio got busier, the service dwindled as there wasn't enough staff (endemic of Calgary) but it was always pleasant. And our food was good! I had the tuna steak salad with lime dressing--totally unexpected for pub grub, and unexpectedly delicious too. Another friend had the strawberry and turkey sandwich, which she enjoyed. The Rose and Crown is a must for patio weather with an atmosphere that is totally unpretentious. Good location too. Oh, and with the parking, there's paid parking right beside the place and there is a sign that says if you pay for parking and go in the rose and crown that they will reimburse you, so that's what my friend did and sure enough, they reimbursed her for 10 bucks! That's really sweet. ps they have over 30 beers on tap!"

"Irish Pub Goodness..."

June 2006 — "After weighting in line in front of the Ship for 20 minutes, my friends and I made an executive decision to go elsewhere and the Rose and Crown just happens to be across the lane. I had forgotten how much I liked this pub; it's very cozy and comfortable, like an old sweater. Traditional Irish-inspired pub fare is on the menu, accompanied by a bountiful selection of on-tap brew. The mini Yorkshire puddings are definitely worth a try with a pint of Trad to wash them down. Hardwood floors throughout the structure add to the old-country feel and come in handy for the live music and Irish polka dancing nights. If for no other reason, head down to this pub for Saint Paddy's Day and celebrate it properly! "

"Holy crowded batman!"

June 2005 — "The Rose and Crown seems to always be packed in the evening on weekends, so if you want to sit, get there early. If you have to stand, try not to do so at the bar as old men on bar stools will leer at you and 'accidentally' rub up against you. The 'dance floor' is about 2 feet x 2 feet so you probably can't bust out your best moves. The bartenders have always been nice, but pleasant waitresses are few and far between -- one not only refused to apologize but actually yelled at my friend and I when she spilled a drink on us. But despite all this, I've never had a bad time at the Rose and Crown. It's unpretentious and fun, and a great place to get a drink or two with friends. "
