November 2009 — "The Village Cantina is located in the trendy Inglewood district, which makes it a fun destination after browsing through some of the shops or going to the Zoo. I've been there a few times, mostly during the summer months, and sat on their patio and sipped Margaritas. On this visit it was cold and blizzardy so I finally sat inside. Lots of...happy colours, particularly on a cold day. And, there is a drag show held at the Cantina and pictures of the performers are on the walls to look at while eating. The menu is sort of Mexican with an Italianishy flare. I started with Sweet and Spicey Fire Roasted Pecans and Almonds for around $6 which were great with my beer. Then I tried the Fire Roasted Prawn Kabobs...this was actually a very tasty dish but I didn't feel like there was enough for $25. The prawns came with onions, peppers and rice. Pizzas, lots of starters and a few other entree's are on the list of choices, with little shot glass taster desserts for $3 each. Most of prices for the main meals were around $20 - $25, and the starters were $6 - $16. I need to point out that the bathroom was pretty dirty (dirt in the corners, napkins on the floor) - I noticed though that the server immediately reported it and it was taken care of. So, hopefully this was unusual and the next time I try (which will be the last if it is dirty again) will be great."

"Great Food!"

November 2009 — "While I was walking around Inglewood with my wife, we happened upon Village Cantina. At first glance we walked right by, but then saw that people in the window were eating some really delicious-looking food. We backtracked a bit and when we entered were greeted very quickly by our server who cleared the table at the window for us. We ordered a pitcher of Honey Brown and were surprised with the wide variety of appetizers. We started with the baked baby brie with sundried tomatoes. It was absolutely delicious. It was served with bread and I really enjoyed it. As an entree I got the chicken enchiladas and I must say that they were the best ones I ever tried and even better than my wife's. She wasn't pleased. She got the special which was salmon rolls with artichoke dip. The special was so huge she could hardly eat any of it, and when we asked if there was anything else in it like shellfish the server said no. So we took it as leftovers. However, when I took a bite later in the evening I was immediately allergic so I don't know what was in that. I had to take some pills! Besides that experience it was a great time and I can't believe I have never been there before!"

"Pricey But Unusual"

February 2009 — "The Village Cantina is right on 9th Ave., the hub of Inglewood. We went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We had no trouble getting a table, although the establishment is not very big. Typical breakfast entres were in the $12 to $14 range. Menu descriptions were well written and they made me want to try everything. However, due to price constraints, I opted for the breakfast special of two eggs, hashbrowns and toast. ($8) The food was very tasty, and the cibatti toast came in little silver containers of jam and peanut butter. I don't care for the cibatti as they are basically the same as the end slices in a loaf of bread. (a bit more substantial and harder to chew than a regular piece of toast) The service was variable. The woman server, although smiling a lot as she scurried about was unable to give us the ketchup we asked for, while her male counterpart had no trouble at all. He was attentive and friendly. On one wall there are many pictures of female impersonators. We were informed that every Saturday evening, there is a show upstairs for $45. I had visited this establishment last summer on a sunny day. We sat in their lovely courtyard/garden. The ambiance was great! However, our order of chicken wings took a very long time to arrive. We were about to leave without eating when they were finally delivered. Some of them were still cold! We were not impressed, and once again, prices were expensive. I would recommend this place for a beer on a hot summer day, but I would pass on the food. However, if you can afford the breakfast items, I would definitely check them out. "

"Everything about the Cantina is fun"

July 2008 — "One of our regular spots, the Village Cantina is pure fun. It is definitely my favourite place in the city to get a mojito and enjoy the tropical decor. For this reason, it might be even better to go in the middle of winter and forget where you are. I love the artichoke dip in either form; on ciabatta or with torilla chips- by far my favourite thing on the menu. Their desserts are heaven on earth, they have hot sauces instead of a condiment tray, and they promise that they don't even have a deep fryer, which can only mean good things for the food. Our regular server is very charming, and a lot of fun. They also have a loyalty card; as if we needed to be tricked into coming back! Village Cantina is also host to "Calgary's Best Female Impersonators", Carly's Angels. I have never seen the drag show, as it is always booked months in advance, but I would love to. I think it would be a great time."

May 2008 — "I went to Village Cantina on a Saturday Night if you haven't been upstairs to see the Drag Show you don't know what you are missing. It was so entertaining made me laugh the whole time. They did pick on my husband a little. We got their early enough to eat first. I had the pizza it was great. Nice thin crust just the way I like it. The apps were very good the baked brie was the best that I liked. The portions were good size enough to share. The place looks newly done over clean and updated colors. great ambiance. I would go again in a heartbeat and recommend this to my friends travelling to Calgary."

"Simply Awsome"

May 2008 — "My wife and I recently visited Calgary, a friend of ours told us to take in the female impersonator show at the Cantina's upstairs lounge. We reserved tickets for the saturday performance and were blown away. I haven't laughed so hard in I don't even know how long. The entertainment was over the top. That said, we ate dinner before the show and had a great meal, the service was great ( and the place was packed ), I also thought their drink menu was very creative with alot of fun cocktails. I don't know who their decorator is, but someone has an incredible eye. The place had alot of flair, yet felt very comfortable. We were so impressed with the place, we went back and had lunch two days later, and again, everything exceeded our expectations."

"Pretty Okay"

October 2006 — "The Village Cantina is a cute restaurant in Inglewood that has a Mexican theme and offers a mainly a bunch of tapas-style dishes. When I went the service was okay (our server disapeared for about 20 minutes at one point) and the food was decent, but I found it was a bit over priced. I went with a friend and we got the baked brie (delicious) and the nachos, which were dry and had hardly any cheese. What's more, the server asked us if we wanted guacamole and chili with our nachos without letting us know that a small, small cup of these items was going to cost us $4 extra each. Our bill for two appetizers and some tea came to $45 -- a bit much if you ask me. "
