July 2009 — "The Galaxy Diner is a fun place to eat. It is a small retro type dinner with the old style wooden boths and the checkered floor. The restaurant is quite small and it can be very busy, but when we visited this dinner it was early on a Saturday morning so we did not have to wait to be seated. I ordered a traditional ‘twosome’ breakfast of 2 eggs, hashbrowns and toast. The service was fun and very fast. The food was excellent. My eggs were cooked just right and the hashbrowns were so delicious! Nothing was too greasy (as some breakfasts can be) but everything was still very flavourful. The breakfast was ample size for what I needed and I left feeling quite full. The price for the breakfast was reasonable for this type of restaurant. The atmosphere was very casual and fun and the facility was clean. I definitely recommend this restaurant for breakfast. Go early to beat the crowd but also worth the wait if have to. "

"Excellent breakfast grub"

April 2009 — "When it's the weekend and you feel like one of those huge, late in the morning diner breakfasts, it's hard to beat the Galaxie on 11th Street. We were visiting friends in Calgary and went there on a Sunday morning. As with most popular breakfast places, a wait is part of the experience and was the case at Galaxie. But we were offered coffee while we stood around and the wait was well worth it. The portions were huge, the food yummy, the vibe cool and the service friendly. We'll definitely be back. Loved it!"

"A tasty treat for breakfast lovers."

April 2009 — "Quaint, Hip, Tasty. There's a reason the line-up to the Galaxy can sometimes wind outside the restaurant. This place does breakfast, and does breakfast right! I ordered a smoked-meat omelet and a chocolate shake (it was 11:30, so I figured I could enjoy the best of both worlds). I wish I had a scale because I swear there was literally a pound of meat in my omelet. As delicious as it was, I was only able to finish half of the behemoth, and as a testament to its awesomeness I took the rest home. Which I might add, may have been the first time, I've ever packed my breakfast to go. I'm pretty sure my milkshake was nothing more than a liter of chocolate ice-cream whipped. Not that I'm complaining. It was delicious. The service at Galaxy was pretty good. Our server was very cordial, and funny. Furthermore our coffee cups never went empty; a must for any diner. "

"Sunday Breakfast."

June 2008 — "It's a diner, it's greasy, and I'll probably be back for more. There's really nothing special about this place, but it feels like home, and the staff are chillin', so I constantly find myself coming back. Oh, wait, the smoked meat omelette is pretty special, but I didn't order it on my last visit. I had the French toast, and it definitely quenched my need for a fine Sunday breakfast. Be warned, if you plan on eating here between 11 and 1 on a Sunday, expect to wait for a booth."

"Definately Won't Go Hungry"

May 2008 — "Despite the often looong wait to be seated in this tiny but very groovy diner, I keep going back for more. The actual shape of the place reminds me of a train car--long and skinny, with a wooden, concave ceiling, but it's all decked out in understated 50s decor--complete with little personal table jukeboxes. Its very cozy. But it's mainly the food I return for. They do my selections off the typical breakfast menu perfectly every time, and the generous servings are always a challenge to finish. Eggs Benedict comes on toasted croissants, omelettes are loaded, the breakfast burritos are bursting with flavour, and the hashbrowns are addictive and bottomless. Yum!"

BulletDescription

The ever-cool Galaxie Diner is tucked away off of 17th Avenue S.W. on 11th Street. Its all-day breakfast is standard in content, but exceptional in taste. Refills on hash browns are often offered. The lunch menu features burgers, sandwiches and shakes. Space is very limited, so expect a lineup - especially on weekend mornings.
